7.1.2 breaks HVR-2250 ? [FIXED w/ PATCH]
My HVR-2250 tuner stopped working after upgrading to 7.1.2. This is with using its dual tuners for OTA ATSC broadcast. Worked great, rock solid, prior to installing 7.1.2 today.
I tried removing and re-adding the video source and just get the error "There was a Capture Error in playback. Details: ERROR (-5,0x80140000): There was a problem setting up software video compression" Last edited by patja; 02-23-2011 at 02:24 PM. |

Same issue here
I'm seeing the exact same error with my 2250 post upgrade. I'm using the dual tuners for NTSC analog cable capture, however. Like you, never had a problem with it before today.

You should file an official bug report.

I had that same problem and had to uninstall sage and back up my wiz.bin file and then I redownloaded the new sage beta file and reinstalled the non-beta version of sage tv then installed the beta over that and everything is working once more.
I think the first time the file did not download all the way is why it broke my 2250 tuners as its working now. Trallyus |

@tmiranda - I see you have an HVR-2250 (as do I). Are you running the latest beta on your server? Are you experiencing any issues? I really like some of the new features in the beta (especially adding favorites for sports teams!) and would like to try it out. But I don't want to 'break' my tuner.

Anyone else notice that the HVR-2250 tuners only allow you to select DVB-T or DVB-S as digital tuning sources? I would swear before upgrading that I had ATSC and QAM as choices. Upgrade in place broke the HVR-2250, so now I'm trying a clean install. Still only allows me to select DVB-T or DVB-S, but haven't tried recording yet (selected DVB-T).

Well, looks like I should steer clear of this beta then. I am really looking forward to some of the features though! Does anyone have a positive experience with the 2250 and the new beta?

Nope, same stuff here. Thinks I'm in Europe I think with no ATSC and only showing DVB-T/S with a capture error.
Kinda hard to evaluate a beta when it won't even run a tuner correctly. Geeeze...rolling back! |

Yep. I even tried monkeying around with properties file settings to make the encoders look exactly like they did in 7.0, but no dice, they automatically switch back to DVB-T.
Submitted bug of course. Beyond that, I have to say I really love the Placeshifter improvements! Now for Netflix and Ceton support! |

Similar issue- different error message
I'm not sure if this is the same thing or not, but I also have an hvr-2250 as well as an hdpvr. The Beta broke my install also, however the error I get says:
There was a Capture Error in playback. Details: Error (-2,0x80004005): There was a problem using a SageTV component. Please re-install the SageTV application. I also get a bunch of recordin/ reset attempt alerts from the 2250. I attempted a repair with the installation program, and get the same thing. Next step is a clean install and importing wix.bin or reverting to the non-beta, until the 2250 issue is fixed. But I wanted to see if anyone else had this different error message, in case it's a different issue. |

In 10 min. I'm going to try the "patch". (It appears my main HD PVR is working, as it's currently recording) UPDATE: The "patch" worked to correct the HVR-2250 (-2,0x80004005) error for me. Tomorrow is a big DVR day, so that will be the "Real" test..

For those folks getting the Error (-2,0x80004005) you should try re-downloading the beta and see if that fixes the problem. I had the same problem and once I reinstalled the original non beta of the program and set up my tuners and redownloaded the beta and installed it , that fixed that problem for me.
