My wife likes the default UI with the Serenity plug-in. The color scheme of the Serenity plug-in is much better than the default UI. I tried the Movie Wall plug-in, but my wife doesn't care for that. I've found the Movie Wall does look nice, but it needs a lot of maintenance to get it setup right.

My wife had the same comment as the OP so we have stayed with SageMC on the extenders although I run Diamond on the PCs that only I use.

I agree that SageMC is much better laid out and the menus in the v7 UI are too cluttered. I hope to change everything once Phoenix or Ortus are released.

The getting it set up right part. Just curious about what you mean.

Oh, Movie Wall. Movie Wall requires a lot of maintenance to get the graphics for each movie setup. Many times the wrong graphic or no graphics are used by Movie Wall and it has to be fixed. It wouldn't be much work if you only had a couple dozen movies, but if you have maybe a thousand movies, it's a lot of maintenance.

Lightbulb Major complaint RESOLVED!

Thanks for all the responses and information.

The wife's major complaint was that she had to use the keyboard in order to bring up TV sorting (i.e., most recently recorded versus all episodes of the same show grouped).

As it turns out, the "CLEAR" button on our Dell MCE remote is what brings up this menu in SageTV now. Once I figured that out and showed her, things are better (although there is still a learning curve for some of the changes).

The other "big thing" we're missing is the ability to get a full weather report from the SageTV Main screen. Yes, the temperature is there, and yes, you can click on it with a mouse, but in SageMC, you could just use the right arrow on the remote to navigate to it and then hit enter/ok for the full report (I do understand you can get there from the Menu/Online/Weather).

Now I just have to figure out why all of "My Movie" data disappeared.

With SageTV7 you end up back at the top list of all your recordings and if you want to do something with the recording you just watched you have to find it in the list again.

Michael
There is a plugin for that... multifunction stop maybe?

You could try out the Context Sensitive Main Menu plugin for that, it basically adds some useful information on the right hand side of the screen as you navigate up and down the main menu, when 'Online' is selected it displays the whether information. You can customize what's displayed through the options menu.
