HD300 Network Adapter failure
Had a quick hydro outage and have been unable to get the hd300 back on the network. It could not get a ip via dhcp (timeout) and would not work with a static (could not ping it). So figured i had router / switch cable issue. Checked all cables , rebooted routers and switches, still no go. At the TV where the HD300 is i have two wired connections. I plugged my laptop into each one and worked fine. Cables, routers switches all good. Only thing left is the hd300.
I've power cycled a number of times to no avail. software / hardware resets from the network admin screen on the hd300 to no avail. I powered off again and this time waited about 20 minutes and let the unit cool right down. Low and behold, powered on and the network was back. This is at least the third time this has happened. My home theater equipment (including HD300) are connected to a power conditioner (panamax m5100 ex) but not a battery backup unit. These HD300's seem very fragile (and yes they do get warm). Now that its back again, just curious if anyone else has experienced this. thanks...

Cat 5 connector
My problem is a little different.
I believe I have a intermittent network jack on my hd300. By moving the cat5 cable I can cause the HD 300 to lock up. I also get a green shadow on the left side of of the images in the video . I replaced the end on the cat 5 cable with no change. I did replace the HD 300 with an HD 200 and the problem went away. That is why I think I have a flaky input jack on the HD300. Any body had this problem with the HD300? Thanks Ed Sage v7, Win 7, HD100,HD200,HD300 |

I just had something like this happen to one of my HD300's a few days ago. I was watching something and the unit suddenly cut off. I tried power cycling and it took forever to do anything. When the built in UI finally came up, I was able to see that it could not obtain an IP address. Several restarts did nothing to change things. I swapped in another HD300 at the same location using all the same cables and it connected to the server with no problems. I tried switching the units back and forth and the problem unit consistently failed to obtain an IP address while the 2nd unit worked fine every time. I just haven't had time to open a support ticket yet.
Aloha, Mike

I have the same Issue. I contacted support - Sent it back - they sent me another HD300. They told me my original device did not have any issues.
The new one still has the issue - so it must be something on the network causing it. I have mine going from my router/gateway (DHCP Server, 2wire 3800-hgv-b, uverse) to a Netgear GS108 then to the HD300. After messing around with it I made a new cat5 cable and omitted the Netgear switch. So the HD300 is connecting directly to the Router/gateway and now it can get the IP address form the router. Only tested it twice but for now it is working. Even after it got the IP address from the Router/gateway I plugged it back into the switch (Netgear gs108), now it works fine. The one thing that trips me out is that when the HD300 was connected to the switch I can go into the Factory restore System menu and still download the firmware from the internet. But when the standalone UI loads it cannot resolve an IP address from the DHCP Server - and setting a Static IP address did not work. I got to get another switch and test that out. |

The three times or so this has happened to me, i also bypassed the switch (24 x 1gb netgear), but still was unable to get an ip@. Each time after waiting some time (cool down), it works fine again. I'm wondering if heat affects the network card.
