Close Captions with HDTV

I need a little education here:

I have SageTV 7, Comcast (Motorola STB) and a HD PVR. At this point I can turn Closed Captions on/off via the STB, but this is a big pain in the neck. I have to turn off the STB, hit Menu and turn on the CC. Then hit Menu again and power on my STB - similar for turning CC off.

At this point every thing is CC, but I would like to turn CC off for many shows using my SageTV remote. I hit Options and try to turn off CC, but it has no effect - no setting (OFF, ON, CC1, CC2) will change the CC state.

So is the bottom line here - there is nothing I can do except control CC from my Motorola STB?

The HD-PVR is a capture card, not a tuner card. So the only you can produce CC is turning it on and off at the Motorola box.

I sent an email to Hauppauge Technical Support and asked the following question:

"Does my HD PVR have a decoder that supports playback with closed captions for a HD recording?"

This was their response:

"Hello

The only way to record and play back closed captions is to turn on closed options on the set top box and the hd-pvr will record the CC that is displayed on the screen and will be saved in the file.
There is way to turn it on or off at that point."

So I got the impression that there was some way to turn CC on and off.

Do I need another "tuner card" or is there some sort of software solution to turning CC on and off after I recorded a show with my HD PVR?
