So close...
I have spent almost a whole day getting my new SageTV 6.4 + Hauppauge HD-DVR + DirecTV playing well together - I will not bore the forum with all the hoops I had to jump - a few reinstalls (Windows, SageTV, Hauppage drivers), many reboots but I am close...
However, I am down to 2 items - I haven't tried to record yet, just setup issues before I try that. 1) Time incorrect - My system clock is set properly, but SageTV insists it is +1 hour from now - My zip code is settup correctly and I cannot find out where this setting is - Sage thinks it is 7pm, it is 6pm on my system. 2) Most guide data indicates "no data" - only when I tune to the station it then updates - is there a setting to get data now or something? Thanks for the help, |

2) Don't know. There is a way to force an update through the web admin add-on. Force an update to see if that works. |

OK - After taking a break and trying again, I went into date/time - it is set correctly (GMT-5 Eastern), and I unchecked "Automatically adjust for daylight savings changes"...
It fixed one problem - Sage now thinks the time is OK but my listings are now an hour off - wow, this is truly frustrating. I mean on comedy central, it says scary movie ended an hour ago! It just finished now. Still struggling also with the listing data - almost everything says no data until I change to the station. I am using XP SP2 - I just noticed I didn't do any updates since my last Windows rebuild this morning so maybe there is a patch to fix the time thing - downloading now... |

Make sure you're using an up-to-date version of Java. Some older versions have issues with DST since the schedule changed a couple of years ago.

And that you've got the Microsoft DST update.

Another approach might be to install XP service pack 3 - I suspect the DST updates would be in there. I'm running XP w/SP3 on my server, eastern time zone, "automatically adjust" box checked, Sage version 6.4.8 & java version 1.6 update 10 and it's got the time right, both in the time display and in the guide.

If you cannot resolve the time of day problem before next Sunday when time changes back to standard time, watch if the problem goes away by itself. I have seen that problem before on a Bash shell program running on a computer system, but the cause of the problem wasn't identified.
I strongly recommend periodically taking images of your computer during the building process, so you will not have to start the build process over from scratch. After you successfully complete the build process, continue to take images of the boot drive, so you can easily recover without having to start the build all over from scratch. If you cannot afford the software, there's free software called PING (Partimage Is Not Ghost) http://ping.windowsdream.com/. One of the guys I work with tried PING and it worked. I use Ghost 9.0. There are other free and pay disk imaging products that also work. I have recovered my computer many times, usually after testing trial software, to completely remove the trial software. When images are stored on CDs or DVDs, sometimes recoveries fail. The images should be stored on a separate USB hard drive for consistently successful recoveries. Dave |

I have the same problem with the EPG being 1 hour off.
I am on the East Coast. I discovered it this past Sunday sometime after 12:00 noon. I have searched in vain for a solution. I am running WIN XP Pro SP3, SAGE 6.4.8. The first thing I did was to upgrade my JAVA to the latest version. (version 6 update 10) That still didn't help. I came up with a workaround for the time being. I set my system time zone to GMT-04:00 Atlantic Time, unticked the Automatic DST setting, and rebooted. It's working for me. The same problem also showed up on my friends SAGE installation. I am hoping that in time there will be more info on a permanent fix. It's weird, since ELAW has similar specs with no problems. |

This has to be something with the fact that they moved back the end of DST a few years ago. In past years, this past weekend (Oct.25-26) would have been the change. Now it's this coming weekend.
It just seems too coincidental that these problems are arising this week, ya know?

Thanks for all the replies - I updated the system and got everything to SP3.
I am still having the issue but I am now suspecting that it is the Guide data screwed up. SageTV = system time now I am still, after 1 day, have a ton of No Data listings - and what listings do show up are an hour old. Is there any way to force system listings to load? |

Please disregard my earlier fix for the guide being 1 hour off.
The solution was posted by mike400hp in another thread. There is an update that you have to run from Windows Updates that will take care of this. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951072 I guess if you have automatic updates disabled then you wouldn't have gotten this patch. As for forcing an EPG update, just go into your channel setup, select and deselect any channel, then back out properly and the guide will reload. |

Yes - it all seems to be fine now - thanks for all the posts - I rebuild the system one last time from scratch and all those problems are gone.
A few tricks in case anyone else goes for it. 1) Install all Windows first - update to latest, all patches, etc. 2) Install Hauppauge PVR - and, update to 1.1 - set the blaster settings with their blaster config, install Aversoft software that came with it (I suspect this is why I got into problems before, I only installed the drivers and didn't install the Hauppage software, so no codecs were installed and so no decoding) 3) Install Sage Time is correct, guides are correct and looks good - now off to try recording something! |

My clock was wrong too. I installed XPSP3, all critical updates and latest version of java from www.sun.com/getjava/ after rebooting the time in sage was correct.
