Please Help with multiple sources. ~So close to Complete

I am so close to completing my HTPC. Please help me iron out the final kinks so i can be done with.

I am using Sage TV, the demo for now, and once things are working i will purchase it.

Basically I have a TV Tuner (Haupage WinTV-PVR 150) and a DVB-S card (Hauppauge Nova-S) on the same machine.

I first set up the dvb-s card. I am using MyTheatre and a network encoder to get the dvb system working in SageTV. everything is installed and working great. I select "Live TV" and I can successfully watch satellite television.

Now when i add the cable tv tuner (hauppage wintv-pvr 150) as a second source, it works great however it over rides the "Live TV" button so that it does not play TV from my dvb card but just from my tv tuner card.

Does sage tv not support multiple input sources? Is there a way so i can create a second menu item? This way I can have a "Play Live Cable" and "Play Live Satellite" option.

PLEASE PLEASE get back to me. I am waiting for your reply. Thank You.

If you just choose "Watch Live TV", it should simply start playing something from the last channel that was used. You should then be able to change to any other channel. The tuner that gets used depends on the channel selected, tuner(s) it is available on, and probably some other criteria.

thank you for replying

is there a way to have the option "Live TV" restricted to only displaying/playing the channels associated with a specific tuner. And can we add a second option such as "Live Sat" for the satellite channels?

I do not fully understand what u were referring to with the tuner being selected based on the Last channel that was watched. If this is true, how do i switch between tuners?

Thanks in advance

If a channel is available on multiple sources, then you could try setting the mmc/encoders/<SomeNumber>/encoder_merit property in sage.properties -- edit using a plain text editor while SageTV is not running at all; a higher value is higher priority. Then, if all internal considerations are equal, that merit will determine tuner priority.

Other than that, no, you don't select the tuner to use for a recording in SageTV; you select a channel to watch. SageTV then selects an appropriate tuner for the selected channel. (And, live TV is simply a recording that you happen to be watching as it gets recorded.)

When you select the 'LIVE TV' button Sage will show you the last channel that was tuned (either by you, the setup system, or the timed/favorites recording system.

While in 'LIVE TV' you can channel surf, select a direct channel, or pull up the GUIDE and select a program from the list.

When you added the analog tuner, it must have been the last channel used. If you want to watch your satellite channel then the easiest thing is to pull up the GUIDE (ctrl-x on a PC keyboard) and select a current show from the Electonic Program Guide.

No, there isn't. Is there a particular reason you want this? If you make the Satellite the "preferred" tuner card, then the Satellite will be the choice Sage makes when you ask it to tune a channel and only use the PVR150 when the Satellite card is busy recording something else.....

Since all the channels from both devices get consolidated into the Program GUIDE and sorted by channel number your higher numbered SAT channels should be grouped together.

In the case of program duplication from both devices, one channel is elected to represent both channels in the guide, but SageTV has access to both channels in case of recording conflict. Otherwise all the channels are shown in the GUIDE.

The focus of SageTV is on the Show's Title. The tuners are invisible to the user.
