Problem Switching to Service Mode

I have used SageTV for a couple of years. I am now using the latest version and want to switch to service mode. When I try it wants me to go through a new installation.

Can I just switch to service mode somehow with doing a new installation?

It's not a bug, and it's not a complete new installation. It's just the client UI setup, because technically you're now using a different client than you were before. Just go through with it and it won't bother you again.

I just tried and it seem to be a complete setup - I got as far as a new configuration for my remote and stopped.

Is there an easy way to just switch over?

It should not be asking you to reconfigure things like video sources, channel changing, and recording directories. If it is, something's wrong.

Setting up a remote for UI control counts as part of the client setup and is separately configurable on each client. There's no built-in way to bypass that, but I suppose you could manually copy individual property settings from Sage.properties to SageClient.properties if you consider that easier and trust yourself not to screw it up.

I agree it would be useful to be able to set up one client the way you like it and then say "Use these settings as the default for new clients" instead of having to go through the wizard again on each client. But as far as I know that feature doesn't exist.

If you feel this is too difficult than the answer is no. It is a one time configuration you do just like when you started it up in non-service mode.

Thanks, I did not know how far the set up was going. I did not want to redo the whole thing.
