Listenning to music CDs - how?
Hi all,
Tried to listen to a music CD last night - but could not find any way to play it on SageTV... I tried using the DVD play - not working, I tried adding the DRIVE letter to the video library - not working. Any ideas? Thanks, Oren. |

I take your trying to listen to music off CD disc it self? if so that not support for I know of.
Rip them in to MP3 with something like MusicMatch Jukebox |

It just seems a bit daft that Sage doesn't support Audio CD play?!?
It would be nice to be able to just pop a CD in the drive occasionally, and not have to drop out of the Sage user interface. |

Hhhhmmmmm...so simple and yet not supported?
I don't think that ripping about 500 CDs is the answer...well not at the moment (I'll do it someday when I have more time...). So we need another solution...for now... Do you know of a very simple Music CD playing program that can popup as soon as I insert the CD, and that I can use the remote to oparate it, and then simply close it when I'm done? The only problem I see is that I will not have any way of starting that program without re inserting the Music CD. What do you think? Thanks, Oren. |

Couldn't you just use WMP? It's free, plays CDs relatively well, and can be controlled with the Hauppauge Remote (at least there is a seciton for WMP8 in the irremote.ini file that could be a starting point).

I am working on adding something like this but I ran into a problem. When the CD is done (or you want to stop) how do you get back into Sage?
For DVD's I just Sleep Sage and launch a DVD player. It is then your responsibility to bring back Sage. For DVD's I think this is OK, but for music not sure if that model is a good one. |

Being the one who have Studio...mlbdude ...
Cann't we just add support for Music CDs inside SgaeTV and not run an external program for it? Like being able to read VOB files for DVDs...? I think it should be an add on to the MP3 music part - so it could read another format directly from the CD-ROM...I think Well, another thought - why sleep sageTV when running an external program - when using sageTV on a TV with only a remote, you can not bring it back! I think running another program ON TOP of sageTV, and when we close it sage will be in focus is a better idea And my last thought for now... Can we add a section to Girder to move to focus to SageTV if it's not on focus when pressing any button on the remote??? Oren. |

Most of us use remotes and have no problem bringing Sage out of Sleep. Check the forums. Sage needs to sleep because it needs to release all of its hooks as to not interfere with the called application. Since Sage uses DX9 now this is even more of an issue. DVD is a good example. Try getting a DVD to play using Overlay while you have Sage doing certain tasks. Sleep is the end all solution (other than closing Sage) to have it release all of its hooks. Setting focus for anything with Girder is also all over the forums. |
