Dual Display: Have SAge act like WinTV2000 ?

With WinTV2000 and 2 monitors I can just drag the video to either monitor and it works.

My Sage setup with VRM9 is going black on the 2nd monitor, unless I make it primary.

Anyone know how WinTV2000 works on both, and can those setting be made with SageTV?

WinTV2000 does not use VMR9...

Some graphics cards only support VMR9 on the primary monitor...

Try with Default, or Overlay renderers and see if it helps.

I thought VMR allows the video to display on either monitor, its only overlay that is limited to the primary.

Found the issue, its that SageTV is using overlay even when VRM9 is selected.

When I go to ATI's advanced properties the overlay tab is active with SAgeTV even in VRM9 mode. When WinTV2000 or GB-PRV are used the overlay tab is not active.

Any ideas?

You have to have 3D Accelleration enabled for VMR9 to work. It's in Detailed Setup -> Advanced I believe.

Thanks for the help here, we are getting closer. 3D and VMR9 is allowing the video to be viewed on both displays, but... on the 2nd display the output is poor.

Looks like the frame rate is half of the main display? With WinTV2000 and GB-PVR it displays the same on both?

If the frame rate is different between primary and secondary displays, it may be that VMR9 is not fully supported on the secondary display, and it needs to use more CPU. (check the CPU usage in TaskManager between the 2 displays)

Do you know which renderer GB-PVR is using? It may be using the default renderer, which is VMR7 on XP systems...

WinTV 2000 will probably also be using the defualt non-overlay renderer...

GB-PVR allows selection of the decoder, I have VRM-9 set. The output on the 2nd display is the same as the main display with the default and other selected decoders.

It only seems to be SageTV that is not working well with VRM on the second display?
