SageTV 7 recording issues
I'm still on my trial period for version 7, but am not too impressed. Hoping someone can help me out.
I did a clean install of version 7 by moving renaming my sagetv folder to sagetv6 and installed version 7 clean. I then went through set and scanned my channels, and copied over wiz.bin The issue I have is that about 50 minutes into an hour show all playback stops, but the timeline continues incrementing. If I skip forward sometimes that works and the show will play for 10-15 seconds before stopping again, the sage circle of death appears and it never recovers. This has happens on the last 4 shows that were recorded on all different channels. The recording itself is messed up because I get the same type of issue playing the shows back with windows media player. I've not had this issue at all with v6 it has been rock solid since I installed it. Anyone have any ideas as to why the recording would go to crap like this? Also is the wiz.bin from v7 backwards compatible with v6 as it looks like I'll be moving back to v6 and would like to keep my updated wiz.bin. thanks, dave |

Only thing I do know is that wiz.bin v7 is not backwards compatible with v6. You cannot go back with the updated version you will have to use your backup. Sorry can't help with other problems.

I tried two more recordings today and they both result in the sagetv client crashing in windows so I moved back to my v6 install.
I do have a couple of recordings that I would like to try and watch in v6 that were recorded in v7. With the wiz.bin being no backwards compatible, how do I get them to show up in Sage to be able to watch them? thanks, dave |

Should be able to move them to an imported media folder.

Even just leaving them in the recordings folder, they will show up in the video imports. Shouldn't have to do anything. they just wont reside in the recordings section, because they lack the recording metadata.

I think I may have figured out why SageTV7 had recording issues.
One of my recording drives is bad. As I was trying to figure it all out, I decided to copy one of the recordings from my sage server to another machine to play it locally and got a CRC error. I then ran Seatools and it failed the test. So even though all you do is install the new version, hardware can fail at anytime. I've moved what recordings I could off that drive and removed it from sage as a recording directory. I'll give it another shot to see if that fixes things. dave |
