SageTV v7 HD audio choppy or hissing on server and client
Greetings all,
Just migrated to v.7 and I noticed issues playing HD video from hard drive that originated from BD. PCM and DTS. I tried both FFDshow and Cyberlink audio decoders, and Cyberlink and Microsoft video decoders, really the same result. I get the audio, but it has lots of hiss in it. My server win7x64 feeding HDMI audio into a HT receiver, my client is a win7x64 laptop. Same effect is observed on both boxes. On the laptop if I screw with the bit depth and and sample rate in control panel (and then play test sounds) I can alter the hiss. All other apps play audio just fine... Hoping someone might have some steering suggestions I can follow through on. Non HD audio plays perfect on both.

I think there's a problem sometimes streaming 24bit multichannel PCM audio on ATI that I've noticed. I think you have to make sure it's padded to 32 bits. I think I used ReClock for this, which can do the padding (you have to select 24Bit audio, padded to 32 bit). I've lately only been watching BluRay's via TMT3, so haven't noticed the issue, so can't really confirm it.

Playback in MP classic HT is perfect. Can I make some changes to SageTV to change the audio mixing? I've found that mixing everything into PCM instead of passthrough provides the most reliable results.
The weird thing is that my laptop into its local speakers behaves the same way with the hissing sound. I've been thinking about abandoning HDMI audio into Onkyo HTR. I might switch back to Echo Gina3G 6ch analog into a rack of discrete amps.
