Windows 7 x64 and Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 controller

I have found a signed driver that works for the Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 with Windows 7 64bit. Other solutions I found seemed like hacks. Like one that allows you to install and use ANY unsigned driver in Win7x64 by setting windows to test mode. I didn't like that idea so I went looking for cards with the same chip-set to see if they would have a signed driver that would install. Sonnet Technologies had one and I've had it installed for almost 2 weeks now with no problems. The driver is located here. If you know where Supermicro's driver is I might switch back but the only driver I found would load in Win7x64 but was disabled - so didn't work unless Win7 was in "Test" mode.

Thought I would post this in-case anyone else might be looking for a signed x64 driver like I was.

Bob

If I'm not mistaken that is for the SAS (PCIe 4x) version (AOC-SASLP-MV8) not the SATA (PCI-X) version (AOC-SAT2-MV8). Didn't think that would install on the PCI-X card. I did find one I don't think I tested down the SATA directory chain however that may work. Well I was wrong what I found was for an Adaptec controller and does not install properly. So back to my Sonnet driver

I think it's unlikely SuperMicro will ever release a Win 7/2K8 driver for the card given the age of it.

They only state WinXP/2K3 as 64 bit. Even Sun haven't bothered with Win 2K8 versions and they used the chip in the 4500 Thumper.

For Solaris it's always been a no-brainer choice for ZFS based arrays and once the Linux drivers were sorted the same there for a JBOD card. Must admit I've never even thought about using mine in Windows.

Exactly my thought. The Sonnet driver I found is working fine. SuperMicro gives you the source so that you can build your own driver but I would still have to sign it for Win7 x64 and I just don't have the time to figure out how to do that. It only took me about 15 minutes to search the chipset and find the Sonnet driver.

Dude, thank you

BobPhoenix, you sir, are a gentlemen and a scholar! Like you, I was saddened by all of the hacks required to installed the Supermicro drivers. Your Sonnet driver suggestion worked perfectly in 2008 R2. It even recognizes 3TB drives.

Thank you.

Your post was the 5th google result from these keywords: "aoc-sat2-mv8 signed".

The supermicro aoc-sat2-mv8 alternative signed driver windows 7 server 2008 r2 64-bit x64 is the Sonney Tempo SATA X4i windows driver.
