HD200, "1080i @ 59.94" and Fuzzy Picture?
Ever since upgrading my HD200 FW I now have an output of 1080/59.97 under the setup menus. My HD set accepts a 1080 60i input. My Blu-Ray carousel and PS3 look great on it when the output 1080 60i, so I don't think it is the TV.
Did something happen to make my picture look fuzzy under both Server 6.x and 7.x? Is 59.94 the technically correct expression for 60i, just as 29.97 is for 30Hz in the video world? Or did my properties get altered to something my TV can't quite sync to? I swear the picture is fuzzier. The new 7.x clients look great on my desktop systems, but horrid on the HD200. Is the HD200 outmatched for this interface? It would not seem so, since Server 6.x looked awful as well when I updated the FW. According to my HD200 it is running the most recent FW. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

What looks fuzzier? The video or just the menus? All extenders use a limited resolution for the menus due to limited processing power. The videos should look fine though.

If it's the menus/interface have you played around with the overscan settings?
The scaling for the interface might be just the wrong amount and make the text and interface look lousy. |

Sage recordings, Sony Blu-Ray carousel, and PS3 look great.
The menus became fuzzy. V7 is the worst - almost like it is ghosting. V6 is just fuzzy. I did align the overscan features on the HD200. The TV is a rarer Sony LCOS 1080i input, so no alignment issues as might be on a DLP system. And besides, the pix looks great with any source I throw at it. Any thoughts? It's like the graphics have gone blurry when they used to be so crisp. Sage v6 and v7 clients on my desktop LCD computers look awesome, especially Sage v7 client.

Again, extenders use a limited resolution. HD100's and HD200's use something like a 960 x 540 image and the HD300 (in beta) has a 720P resolution (non beta is the old 960 x 540). This will cause the menus to look fuzzy because your television is scaling them up. Full clients actually use full resolution images so they would look crisper.

Make sure you have the latest beta firmware. It has an experimental 1280 x 720 resolution for the menus on by default I believe.

I'll check for that as well. 1280x720p looks no better, as offered by the HD200.
My Sony is native 1080i. But I will check. Thanks.

I don't think the HD200's have the higher resolution GUI. They just aren't powerful enough.

I have an HD-200 hooked up to a 60" TV and it doesn't look fuzzy to me - I think I am using 1080i via HDMI connected through an AVR.

It could just be me, but...
I was posting with another guy in here that felt that Sage 7 looked great on an LCD but not so hot on other display mediums or resolutions ( I use LCOS 60" 1080i TV), so maybe it's not just me. He wondered if the Sage 7 interface was not aliasing/shadowing well on anything other than LCD monitors. I wonder that as well. I am hooked up via HDMI. No biggie though.
