Using Sage with FIOS DVR STB

I just moved and had FIOS in my last house with an HD STB. They are offering a free DVR for a year in my new house, but they won't just give me a STB instead so I have to use the DVR as my STB. I want to use it with Sage and my HDPVR but just want to know if anyone has used the FIOS DVR box with SageTV. I'm assuming it will work the same as a STB but just wanted to see if anyone has actually used it as such.
