I have yet to update the drivers for my colossus so I cannot report if they cleared up my BSOD problems but...

Assuming Google does something with this acquisition and continues to support some kind of DVR functionality using capture cards (I have every reason to assume so), guess who gets to police Hauppage now? Google! Google carries a *much* bigger stick than the folks at SageTV ever could.

Well after 8 hours of back to back 30 min recording no crash what so ever but that was with no channel changes so that lead me to belive that maybe that problem is not so much the drivers them self but maybe more the STB in way it dose things that some how cuases the Colossus to fake out over time after all it can't hurt try it this I'm going try bump up the stock delay_to_wait_after_tuning=4000 (4sec) to 12000 (12sec) that way the card will has more time to resync both the audio/video before it start recoding.

After installing the new drivers I seem to be having issues. Now I am not sure if it is related but only time will tell.

My server is running 7.19. Sage is in service mode, and I am running a local client... The colossus is using component input and analog audio.

Was gong to but a HD300, but not now... well I digress.

I had about 5 one hour shows set to record this evening. Prior to this I watched a few shows on netflix via playon. The UI appeared to be a bit sluggish, so I checked the Java heap and I was at something like 450/843/843. (Used/Total/Max) being that I was late leaving for work, I just hit the delete key on the sys information page which usually fixes it.

Well to say the least when I returned home the sage service had stopped responding, as well as Sage itself.

Maybe there is a memory leak somewhere. It is either that or I have a heat issue, mid winter, early spring I did not have an issue, now that my room is about 10-15 degrees warmer there seems to be more issues.

I am very close to pulling my HDPVR out of the closet, and installing it.

Well sorry for the long rambling post, hope it could be of help.

I went back to the 29111 driver. I was back to the daily reboot sometimes twice a day with the 29168 driver.

That what I be doing to late on but just with old 29046 drivers I have found them to be more soild with HDMI and SageTV with daily reboot.
Any way everthing looking good so far with 29168 driver under WinTV 7 just little over 4 more hour to go then back to older drivers and fire up SageTV.
If all gose well with WinTV7 then the real problem has to be in SageTV this time a round it self and it sad that we will not see a fix for this in SageTV.

So I guess what you're saying is if you want ability to record whatever from a STB, people should be doing the old HD-PVR and not the Colossus...

Except the HD-PVR is not much better, might actually be worse. Everyone was excited when the Colossus was introduced because we thought it would solve all of the problems associated with the HD-PVR. So pick your poison...

I haven't monitored this thread (other than noticing that it grows bigger every day, and that people have not declared the Colossus as "suitable"), but I've been convinced to buy another HD-PVR, rather than messing with a Colossus. I've been running an HD-PVR since March and have not had any problems with it with Sage on a Windows XP system ...

Actually my HD-PVRs are very stable now. I switched to Win7 x64 and added a NEC USB card and I can record for months now without having to restart. Still not perfect but I can record with a reasonable assumption that I will get a good recording now. Before I would have to setup as many as possible to get a single recording that would playback correctly. The Colossus is still horrible. Haven't tried the latest drivers yet because I am having other problems with that server(I have more than 1) that is going to cause a OS re-install tomorrow night. I'm using HDMI from my DirectTV STB currently it gives a better picture and 5.1 audio so I don't want to go back to the HD-PVR I had on that server.

I colossus is fine on the 29111 drivers with optical audio as long as you lock the settop. Mine is locked at 720p and i have never missed a recording.

Which cable company do you have? You are not having the audio out of sync issue?

I have fios and I know the box is not locked. I need to bring a tv to that room to lock the STB.

Yeah I was afraid of this too ...

I been posting and submitting logs to both SageTV and Happauage and all the informations they been requesting for last 2 months and finally SageTV blame the problem on Happauage while Happauage blame the problem on SageTV.

Now SageTV sold out to Google and no fix in sight either from SageTV or Happauage so I felt all the effort I made into this following their instruction to get this fix went to waste.

I been a loyal customer to SageTV for years and I am not very happy about this but I will just try to get by with bandages like rebooting daily so my family still could enjoy SageTV however I felt the last few months that SageTV Support been kind of brushing me off and now I see this "SageTV aquired by Google" and SageTV support / store closed down so that got me boiling a little bit but I will get over it.

Only thing I can hope that Google aquiring SageTV will be a good thing for us exisiting customers and Google will release something similar in near future that will contiune to use our exisiting hardwares ie Colossus and HD300 etc.

Time will only tell .....

But It will not stop me from trying to find a way to fix or work around this problem and I applause folks like SHS trying to find a solution knowing we problaly can't count on SageTV or Happauage anymore.

Hopefully we will find a solution even we won't see any more beta from SageTV or Google for Colossus.

Bill

Comcast rng150. Locked at 720p. Always used optical. Never had sync problems, even as far back as recording the NFL DRAFT for 8 hours straight.
