agreed, it is long. as soon as Sage and Hauppauge come together and solve the problems, it will stop hopefully.

Well, at least fixes the problem that TVMaster2 has been experiencing (Colossus audio dropping when an HD-PVR recording starts). Nothing about the bad timestamps and stuttering video that myself and others have. Here's to patience.

Passthrough Blurry

Hi folks,

I'm using the passthrough feature of the Colossus like this:

Dish VIP622 component output -> Colossus component input -> Colossus component output -> Epson HomeCinema 720 component input

The picture is crystal clear if I'm using Sage to watch my Dish programming, but if I just want to watch Dish programming without Sage, it's blurry. Not so terrible that I can't watch it, but it's definitely noticeable.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Granted, I'm not using high-quality component cabling. If that's the issue, then I can get better cabling. Thanks!

- Sung

yeah - likely all Sage personnels doing - I was getting nowhere with Hauppauge. Hopefully Colossus will be quicker to remedy then HDPVR was

Looks like a number of our issues have been specifically addressed.

I'm wondering if I should try HDMI again... I had nothing but trouble with the audio on HDMI. Since I switched to component I haven't had any issues except occassional stuttering or glitches when the resolution changes.

Also I am wondering if these got fixed because SageTV contacted them? Because Hauppauge seems to blow off customers who aren't using WinTV

I have been using hdmi without issue for weeks. The only issue I have is related to the memory leak and having to restart sagetv service every now and then, but I have also only been doing 2 channel stereo. Will be trying this today with multi channel stereo through hdmi today and hoping the memory issue is fixed as well.

Installed the new drivers and Colossus seems to be working okay after the upgrade. But can someone else here confirm the following regarding the driver versions:

Colossus Capture Device driver v1.0.29073.0
Colossus Encoder Device driver v1.0.29111.0

The version #s don't match and I want to make sure I have this installed correctly... but like I said, everything seems to be working.

Answering my own question:

A closer inspection of the .zip file reveals that there is a 29111 version driver for the Capture device that is included in the distribution. I reran Hauppauge's installer and I see that it did not install the updated Capture driver because "Compatible hardware was not found". Hauppauge's installer upgraded the Encoder device driver with no trouble.

So, I manually upgraded the Capture device driver using the Windows add hardward wizard and now I am running v29111 for both the Capture & Encoder devices. And the Colossus is working okay.

is that the standard way to "upgrade" Hauppauge drivers?

I wouldn't think so. Hauppauge would like you to run their setup exe. But that didn't work for me, so I had to fall back to the brute force approach. YMMV.

I uninstalled both Colossus drivers from Device Manager, rebooted, then ran the setup program for the new drivers and it properly installed the new version for both. I believe I saw this way mentioned somewhere, maybe in the Hauppauge instructions?

I know I've read posts of people having audio trouble with HDMI. Are you having trouble with HDMI from the STB to the colossus or from an extender to the TV?

If it's not from an extender to the TV, are you using HDMI from an extender to the TV?

It may be too soon to tell, but the new drivers seemed to have fixed the audio getting out of sync with video using SPDIF.

They were Refering to 5.1 audio from the satellite box to the Collusus, but that is suppose to be fixed with this new driver. Hope to try it today.
