Is there some reason why you haven't been able to answer my questions directed at this comment
8ch PCM encoded is not going to be support I have all ready told you that beside that DirecTV and Dish nor any Cable content uses any "HD" audio and if they did it still only be AC-3 bitstream audio mode

I hope the new drivers fixes more than just audio issue but other issues we are having.

If it isn't broke then don't fix it

So don't upgrade to the new driver when it comes out if current one is stable for you.

Or keep the old one handy in case you need to roll back.

yeah i wasnt trying to bait, its just that with the way hauppauge does drivers, hwclear and the installer, there driver installations can be a bit tricky as we all know. It is way simplier just to stay with their latest and greatest.

For those of you having the issue where you sometimes don't get audio from the Colossus card, definitely check out this post for a solution:

the frustrating thing with Sage/Hauppauge is that you're never sure what the problem is. Throw into the mix the motherboard, RAM, video card drivers, it's just a process of hit and miss trying to track down why video just plain stops.

audio is so far the one thing that seems to work all the time - via spdif. My problem is Sage just freezing, at random. Could that be a video card driver problem? (HDMI ATI drivers)

Random freezing is more likely to do with the ati carp drivers (man you would think AMD would fix this age old problem by now) best thing to do is not use EVR mode in stead fall back to VMR 9 mode.

So is anybody running collosus without a problem?
Also I am willing to pay extra for HD400 extender that would work with SD prime without the sagetv system.

I replaced both of my HD-PVR's with Colossi and have been running without issue. This is on a Windows 7 32 bit system with a PVR-500 and an HDHR in the mix. Using component inputs and capturing audio via SPDIF.

Aloha,
Mike

This is similar to my setup, except I'm running XP SP3 and never had an HD-PVR. Replaced an old DirecTV R5000 with the Colossus and kept my PVR500 and two HDHRs. Using component+SPDIF. Not using the Hauppauge remote or IR blaster.

Motherboard is Asus A8N-SLI and graphics is Nvidia 8600GT, but I don't use the server for playback.

You already told me? News to me...
All you said is that 8ch PCM is not supported out-of-the-box (which I was already pretty sure about).

This is what you said:
Yes bitstream mode, I ready sent note off to Hauppauge to see if this can be look at for us DirecTV and Dish user over HDMI and I ref to 8ch PCM encoded which would need a new Audio Licensing in order to do 5.1 or 7.1 encoding over AAC or AC3

Which is why I responded with:
Oh really? Sweet! Are you likely to get any response from them about it, or will you just be stonewalled?

Fair enough if those cable networks don't support "HD" audio.
That's easily misunderstood on my part because of the way you've formed that sentence (& the fact that I don't live in NA).

But the bold parts of your sentence seem pretty clear...

Were they receptive to the idea of implementing 8ch PCM over HDMI encoded w/"HD" DD/DTS formats?
In the longer term of course, it wouldn't necessarily be something possible with this device.
