SageTV 7 - Rogue recordings
I'm new to Sage, and I have not been able to figure out a problem I'm having where TV shows are being recorded that I did not set up to record.
I am aware of Sage's "Intelligent Recording" feature. I went into detailed setup and turned this off on my SageTV server, as well as on my three SageTV Clients. Even with this off, shows are being recorded that are not my favorites and I have not set up to record. And strangely, they seem to be getting deleted soon after recording. It's almost as though Sage starts recording shows in case i might sit down and want to watch it from the beginning. If I don't start watching it, Sage deletes it. Does this sound like expected behavior? |

Since your tuners are active, they will record the show that is currently playing on the channel it is tuned to. Since they are not requested for recording, they will be deleted after the tuner starts recording the next show.

Thanks for your quick reply. What do you mean by my tuners are active?
Does active mean that one of my Sage instances is watching a channel? |

LiveTV gets recorded, and depending upon setting, gets deleted when finished and not changed to a Recording while it is on.
A circumstance which could cause the situation you described would be if you were in LiveTV, then exited it from a method other than hitting STOP. You could have been watching LiveTV, then hit the guide or menu button. Behind the scenes, LiveTV is still "active" and therefore "recording" what is currently on. Try going to LiveTV, then hit the STOP button, then see if the "recordings" as you describe continue. |

Also if you press the pause button while watching live TV or something that is still recording, Sage will continue recording until you stop watching the live show.
