Possible bug in Sage 7?
so, just installed on a fresh windows 7 system.
If I select an "un-subscribed" channel on my satellite receiver, Sage locks up to the point where I have to go into Task Manager to kill the app. If I then quit Sage via Task Manager, and try to re-start the app, Sage won't restart until I have changed channels on the satellite receiver to a "subscribed" channel. I don't remember that being the case with 6.6 At the very least, the entire system bogs down and mouse / keyboard commands take a loooonnngg time, and, the ability for SageTV to control the HD-PVR and change channels after that point is non-functional. If this is a "stable-sync" issue, wouldn't Sage have a built-in blank (or test screen) reference page to keep the app from crashing? It would appear lack of sync is bad for Sage 7 Can anyone confirm this? thanks |

The HDPVR must not like whatever signal it's getting when you're tuning to an unsubscribed channel (you seem to realize this).
Curious as to why this would ever happen though. Wouldn't you have Sage set up to show only subscribed-to channels? I agree it would be nice if Sage wouldn't crash or become totally unusable in this instance, but the fix is easy, no? |

In 6.6, I never remember this crashing Sage. I'd just get a blank screen and realize that this channel isn't subscribed, and then I'd keep surfing. This would also rule out the HD-PVR as the problem, since it wasn't an issue in 6.6. Granted, the Hauppauge, or any other tuner, likely won't enjoy an unstable frequency. However, my satellite company IS putting a synchronous page of some kind up (black), as the TV listing for the channel comes up and is stable, with a requester stating that you haven't subscribed. Why wouldn't Sage lock onto this? |

If you have configured your channel line-up properly then Sage will never try to tune an unsubscribed channel, even when using the "up" or "down" commands. There is also a setting in Advanced Setup that will prevent new additions to the lineup from being enabled automatically. You still get a system message alerting you to the new channel so that you have a chance to enable it manually.
This said, I agree that somethings wrong and Sage should not be locking up just for viewing the channel. You at least need to view it once to determine if it should be enabled or not. S |

And, there are times when I use the satellite receivers remote, which makes all of this moot, since Sage would have no way of knowing I was changing a channel. But yes, the big point is that it would be nice if Sage knew when something was wrong and stabalized itself with internal sync somehow. |

followup - sage support seems to think the fault lies with the HD-PVR. hmmm, more investigation to come.
