Does Sage ever change my media files?

I have a newbie question. I like to add my Photo directory to Sage so I can view all my photos on the TV.

My Photo directory contains lots and lots of photos. Probably in the hundreds of thousands. Some basic questions:

1) From a performance perspective, is it bad to add a root directory like "Photo" to Sage? Does Sage tries to index each file it finds?

I can add "Photo\2010" which would reduce the number of files significantly, but I am curious how well sage will handles a large media library and whether there are performance tips or guidelines I should follow.

2) Will sage ever touch my files? ie, there's nothing I can do on the HD300's remote that would trigger Sage to delete or change my photos right? (ie, pressing 'delete' when viewing a slide show won't actually delete the photo right?)

Thanks!

1. Yes, Sage will create a database entry for every media file it finds in your import folders and subfolders. If you don't want them all indexed, import a smaller folder tree. You can still view or play random files on your disk or network by using the Search function to navigate the folder hierarchy.

2. Yes, you can delete imported media files from within Sage, and this has the effect of deleting the files themselves, not just the database entries. If you don't want that, you can look for a UI mod that removes the Delete function, or else set your folder permissions so that SageTV does not have write access.
