Need help with Recorded Movies

So I have a number of recorded movies that I would like to fix up to include fan art, etc. I've been using BMT and the web gui to futz with things and perhaps I've broken something by doing things I shouldn't so please, any and all advice is welcome. I'm currently using the latest version of BMT but am on the previous RC of SageTV.

Right now, if I view a movie that I haven't manually touched via the gui, I noticed the following:

1) In SageTV / Recordings / Recorded Movies the title appears like this:

Woman of Straw (1964)

2) In the web GUI, the title is simply:

(1964)
SageTV recording is checked (that seems correct)
Media type is defaulted to TV (that seems wrong)
Fanart Title is: blank
Show Title is: Woman of Straw
Episode Title is: blank
Season / Episode are both 0

So I change the media type to Movie
Now Fanart and Movie Title are both blank
I enter the Movie Title: Woman of Straw
I click on save

Now in the web gui above SageTV recording is: Woman of Straw (1964)

But in SageTV / Recordings / Recorded Movies I see:

Woman of Straw (1964)
"Woman of Straw"

Why is it doing this? I don't need an "episode title" for the movie

Stuckless? Am I using the GUI in the way it was intended and this is a problem with SageTV or ??

@darc - I must have missed this question, so my apologies for not responding.

I would say that you doing everything right, in that you are setting it to a movie, updating the fanart etc. BMT does no "unset" fields, so the EpisodeName is still in there as being the "Title", which is something that SageTV sets.

In scenario 2, it would appear that bmt did not automatically fetch fanart for the title (which could be because you don't have it enabled, if so, then it looks correct). ie, when you go into the web ui, it will think it's a TV file since it was recorded... because it thinks it's a TV file, then then it pulls the title from the "Title" field, but that's now where SageTV stored it, so, it's blank. The fact that Fanart Title is blank is another indication that movie has not been automatically scraped as well.

If you do a manual metadata lookup, select the movie, and then save does it still appear that way? (ie with the EpisodeName having the Title). I'm starting to get more recorded movies myself, so I'll see what mine look like as well.

Okay, I do have the setting for automatically fetching fanart; the last movie I recorded (Nightmare Before Christmas) doesn't have any fanart showing up (I may have changed the setting since this recorded) in Sage TV and currently displays (in Recorded Movies):

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

When you say, "If you do a manual metadata lookup, select the movie, and then save" I take this to mean:

Go to "Browse"
Search on Nightmare
Click on the "Update Metadata"
Then I click on the movie (the data looks really good, media type is "movie", etc)
Then I click on "save"

SageTV now shows fanart and it adds the "episode title":

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
"The Nightmare Before Christmas"

Yeah, that was the information that I was after. I just checked some of my recorded movies, and they show the duplicate title as well in SageTV. But they did automatically get updated with fanart and extra metadata in my cases.

I'm not too worried about the automatic thing -- though I do have two movies recording tomorrow so I'll can check on Friday.

In the meantime, do we bug SageTV about the episode title thing or is this something you'll be looking into via BMT?

I'm going to add an issue into bmt, I have no idea on when i'll get a chance to look at it... but at least it won't get forgotten. Now that I have recordings working, these things will get fixed if they bother me enough

Very quick update, the movie that recorded earlier today has fanart, fetched automatically. It also has the "Episode Title", automatically I haven't touched this recording at all other than to notice it in All Recordings just now.
