I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but......

I feel that the UI generally could do with some work.

You need a much more slick logo on the app boot screen. The font on there is terrible!

The fonts on the 'info' page do not seem to match anything else. I feel that a sans-serif font would look much better too.

The remote - all I'll say is this needs some love!

Don't get me wrong, the functionality of the app is great, but it is damn ugly.

And as I've said before, I'm not an artist or anything like that. Someone had volunteered to help with the UI, but he never came through with anything...

Actually, if you look on the wiki, it does say for the release note of 1.36 that I did update the splash screen last week, though I haven't submitted it yet. So here's how the next release will look...

Right, I am using the Georgia font of size 32, while typically I use the default Helvetica fonts (14 regular and 17 bold). So here is how it would look using the same Helvetica font...

Well, you can't please everyone. I get complaints that the UI doesn't match the SageTV UI, while here you don't like the fact that I am matching the HD extenders remote look...

great work on the splash page - Much nicer!

I personally think that the screen-cap above using Helvetica looks far cleaner. Would you be willing to roll this out?

Regarding the remote, would you be interested in some new graphic elements if I had time to come up with something (I'm a web designer - but a busy one)?

OK, I will use those. I will probably submit it today, unless something else comes up...

Sure, though ideally I'd like for everything to still be crammed within 2 screens, and work for the portrait and landscape orientation... To give you an idea, the rectangular buttons are 62x41 and the round ones are 41x41, unfortunately I don't have retina versions of those, but they'd be twice the width and height... A single screen is like 320 x 400 or 240 x 480, when you take out the navigation and tab bars.

UKMGRANGER stop being such a whiner! Everyone has a different idea of what should look "Pretty". For me this is a great app as it is and a lot of people agree with me. Fonceur has put a lot of work into this app and is willing to listen to all ideas, but a little tact would be nice from you!

@steambuilder
I agree that my post #302 could have been more tactful! I had been up early & was a little groggy (!no excuse!).

You must agree that the graphics within the app are a little dated though? Then there is the fact that they are not retina images, making them appear fuzzy/pixelated on the iPad & iPhone4.

As I said in the post, I think that the functionality is very good, but when paying a relatively high price for an app (I do think it is worth the money), I would like to see it looking a little more slick. Something that I hope I may be able to help the dev with if I get some free time soon.

Actually, only the Remote buttons and tab bar icons don't have a retina version, the "blue theme" icons have them. The iPad does not use the retina display either, so it wouldn't change a thing there...

It's read from the Sage.properties file:

sagex/api/httpPort=

Someone else did have to fix this value, as it seems the web server might be storing/pulling it from somewhere else too, an not updating that value...

So this value was set to 8080. My jetty is on 8891. I don't have anything on 8080. I changed it to 8891 and restarted sage and now it works.. But that attribute seems to be the wrong one. I hope changing it didn't break something else.

Version 1.36

- Now shows an indicator (*) when Alerts or Conflicts are presents.
- Updated the splash screen.
- Keep track of some counts, instead of recalculating them over and over.
- Reordered the tabs.
- Replaced the Georgia font by the Helvetica one.
- Fix: The Client's name was not updating properly on the Keyboard tab.

I have updated the demo videos (done with BB FlashBack Express) in the first post, going from version 1.19 to the upcoming 1.37.

It was probably mentioned, but I'd rather not browse the entire thread from my iPhone. Is sagetv 6 supported at all by this, or just the people who upgraded to 7? I did a trial of 7 and didn't much care for it and stuck with 6.

It does require SageTV 7+. All the graphical stuff like thumbnails and streaming are from version 7 plugins, as well as the logic to auto-configure the SageTV clients, events and so on.

I just got my wife used to the version 6 ui, lol. Might get in trouble if I change it. Guess I'll stick with the webserver for now. Thanks for the quick reply

Can't you switch between STV3 and STV7 or such?

You can use the V6 UI in Sage7 if you want but there are much better alternatives such as Diamond and Phoenix.

Version 1.38

- Changed some of the tab bar icons and added their Retina display versions.

Version 1.37

- Fix: The Play/Watch buttons were switching to the Keyboard tab instead of Status.
- Fix: The Conflicts count was wrong.
- Fix: [iPad] The expanded view of the Conflicts was wrong.
- Fix: [iPad] The Keyboard search field was overlapping the Now playing image.
- Can now override the automatic switch to the Status screen on Play/Watch.

Just purchased and love it so far. My Jetty was on a non-default port and streaming would not work. The app would also crash a lot. Changed Jetty back to 8080 and all appears to be working now.

Thanks, looking forward to future versions.

Right, it turns out the place where I read this port isn't the proper one... And technically I can't easily read the proper one.

Hmm, I guess those failed connections are having some bad side effects.
