Sound Issues, Only With Non-HDMI System
I have a dedicated WIN7 server with two Hauppauge 2250 tuners configured for digital sources all the way. The server is connected to a Yamaha receiver via HDMI, the receiver then to a plasma TV also via HDMI. I have two HD300 extenders, one in the bedroom and one in the family room. THe TV in the bedroom is connected to the extender via an HDMI cable. The family room HDTV TV is older; no HDMI, but has component input and optical sound. I often have OTA recordings that play perfectly from the server and in the bedroom, but in the family room the sound will generally be good for the program, but some commercials are fine, some seem to be only playing through the subwoofer. During the show, even the "Previously on..." portion may be subwoofer only, then fine with the new material. I have one particular show recorded daily for four days, and all four of the entire show is subwoofer.
Videos downloaded from the internet are always fine.
I have seen postings regarding how others have their sound set, but cannot find any way to change the settings on my HD300. I have no idea if this is a recording or playback issue, but since they play back fine at the server and the bedroom I assume it is a matter of playback in the family room, though perhaps a different recording setting might work better for all three.
