Smile Help getting Live TV thru HD300 Extender

I am new with Sage having just switched from MCE and MCXs. I have SageTV 6.6.2.18 running and recording ok on PC. I have tried to install HD300 extender. Extender seems to be set up and connecting to PC ok, but I see no menu item for watching/recording Live TV. Pressing the TV or Guide button on the remote does nothing, but the remote functions ok in other respects

There isn't anything relevant in user guide...

I'm a fairly capable newbee but not very technically oriented... (you may need to "spoon feed" me any suggestions).

Can anyone suggest why I'm missing the TV? thanks in advance.

Never mind...! I just figured it out. I didn't realize that you had to select the IP address shown in the server set up. I thought that's what it had already connected to. Duh!

In the detailed setup (somewhere) you can set it to auto connect to your server. Also, if you just recently purchased Sage, you can install Sage 7, as the recent purchases of SageTV include that upgrade for free. It is currently in release canidate stage, but most of us have found it extremely stable. It's a step up (in most people's opinions) in terms of interface and usibility, and there really isnt any reason for you to get used to the v6 interface, unless you really want to (but even in that case, you can use the version 6 ui, or STV, with the version 7 software.

P.s. Welcome to the club!

And you shouldn't have to pick/enter an IP or anything. The server should be automatically detected (mine always have the PC name displayed). You do have to manually connect to it though (until you've enabled auto connect).
