Dual NOVA-HD-S2 cards
Hi,
I am very new to Sage TV and am currently building up my first system. Question: If I use 2off NOVA-HD-S2 cards then can I record one program whilst watching another............much like SKY+. My aim is to built a system using FreeSat and drop my SKY TV subscription, but it must replicate SKY+ for the most part and I won't have any other inputs except for the 2off coax's from my LNB. Thanks in advance. Ian. Last edited by IanJ; 10-02-2010 at 09:11 AM. |

Yes, you can watch through one tuner whilst recording from another. If you're watching something previously recorded, you can be recording something new on both tuners

Hi,
Ok, got them working now. However, I'm wondering if I have a quality issue here as I notice that compared to regular tv it's almost as if there is a refresh issue with the Hauppauge cards. Best I can explain is if you were watching a football match and the ball in flight would be blurred. Slow moving stuff is fine. Is this the Hauppauge cards, my video card or the CPU? Ian. |

A digital tuner doesnt do much more than taking the digital signal and writing it to disk. More likely a playback problem, so you'll need to describe your CPU & GFX card etc.
I use a HD200 for playback, much less configuration work involved

Have upgraded my vid card just incase, we'll see how that goes.
Intel i3 530 Cpu, 4gb ram, Was using MB built-in GPU and i3 processor, now have Radeon HD5570. Question about the Hauppauge NOVA-HD-S2 or any other sat card for that matter......are they all pretty slow at changing channel? I notice that it can take a couple seconds or so. It's certainly nowhere near as fast as say Sky etc. This is the same using the Hauppauge apps, so nothing to do with SageTV. I'm new to this technology so stay with me..... Ian. Yes, definitely slower than a set top box. I trained my userbase (ie wife & kids!) to flick through the guide and then press 'watch' as opposed to channel hopping with channel up/down
Your playback kit sounds plenty powerful enough, not sure what the problem is sorry
