SageTVService.exe using 100% of one cpu while idle (no viewing or recording going on)

I'm sure there are a lot of things that could cause this, it's been my experience that Java-based applications of any kind just love to busy-wait on resources.

What are the common reasons for SageTVService.exe to burn CPU like this?

I'm using 7.0.18 rc2 (though this has been happening since 7.0.17 and maybe before), default STV, tuners are one HDPVR and one pvr250.

If you ahve any plugins running, I would start with disabling all of those and see how Sage performs.

Aside from that, check your Java version. Failing all else, turn on debug logging and open a bug report.

I've had to disable both the Commercial Detector plugin and the Jetty Server plugin because they were causing high cpu usage. Just haven't had the time to figure out the root cause of the problem. I went back to using Comskip Monitor in the meantime.

Debug log was no help, it did not indicate that there was anything going on at all. Removing plugins didn't help either.

I decided it was probably time (after several years) to uninstall Sage, clear my Hauppauge drivers, and start over, saving only my Sage.properties and wiz.bin.

That seems to have made the problem go away.
