Undelete A Show

Does anyone know of a good "undelete" software program that I can run on my server if I accidentally deleted a show?

Thanks,
Mike

I've never found anything that can undelete a show if it's been deleted by/via SageTV.

No general-purpose undelete tool is going to restore the database entry in Wiz.bin. At best you'll get it back as an imported video with a meaningless filename.

Even that's unlikely at this point. If you didn't undelete it right away, and your Sage server is still running, chances are that some portions of the deleted file have been recorded over by now.

If accidental deletion is a problem for you, your best bet is to defer deletion of files until you're sure you're done with them. I haven't tried it, but you might be able to cobble together some sort of trash-can feature using V7 user-defined categories to mark recordings for deferred deletion, and SJQ to carry out the deletions automatically a few days later.

Actually, database entries for recorded shows are kept permantently, so it is possible to have the file reconnected to its database entry.

But, I do think recovery is difficult due to at least some parts of the file quite possibly being overwritten.

I use NTFS Undelete http://ntfsundelete.com/ which works pretty well for me.

Like others have said, depends upon how soon after you delete that you want to recover and how much writing to the disk occurs after the delete.

Whenever it has recovered stuff, always been the original file name.

Yes, doesn't "automatically" get back into your Recordings, but can see it via Imported Media, or use something like BMT to get it back into Wiz.bin for Recordings.

Wow, pretty nice tool... too bad it found every deleted file but the one I deleted by mistake. I deleted this weeks copy of the Mentalist and i am pretty sure HULU doesn't get it. I am dead meat... It makes no sense that CBS doesn't allow us to watch missed shows like it seems every other network does.
