My recent frustrations with Sage led me to this...

Guess I'm through with this

Wow, that's some serious rage. What issues are you having? Have you reached out to tech support? They've been very helpful to me.

Meh, I have a spare remote somewhere.
It sure felt good afterwards

Sometimes breaking something is a great stress reliever. Plus I just quit smoking.

Y'know what I'm missing from this discussion? A reason. What caused the frustration? Was it perhaps frustration with your own inability to ask for help in a very helpful community?

So maybe the thread should be retitled "Nicotine withdrawal led me to blame Sage for this."

The new remote is better anyway, has power and vol buttons for your TV. But you should really wait till it is available separately at the SageTV store before going all hulk on that old remote.

I was gonna volunteer to take the HD200 (it's not a 300 - you can tell by the remote buttons). But if it's a 100, I don't want that.

hahahaaha

Reminds me of about 10 years ago when I chucked a failing computer off my balcony. Whenever there's an issue about losing one's temper, my wife always reminds me of that day.

My brother in law has destroyed dreamcasts, nintento game cubes, and xbox 360s when he's gotten mad at his kids.

I've simply unplugged these devices or hidden the remotes.

I do have a slightly damaged remote from an HD100 though. Still works fine, but my dogs mistook it for a chew toy and took it out back to play with it. They got a couple of buttons off and put a few teeth marks in it, but it still really works just fine.

They weren't quite as easy on the vudu remote they played with. That thing was destroyed.

Really? you think that's a possible explanation... that I couldn't ask for help so I broke a remote in half.

Nawww that's not it, and it wasn't a Nic Fit.

What led to the breakage of said remote was...

I had recently rebuilt my system from the ground up, for a while sage was running fine, then trouble started. missed recordings, conflicts, the hd100 got slow, updating the hd200 was tricky at best, took weeks for a stable firmware to solve what seemed to be an issue which only my system was having, which I found out from posting for help!.
Other issues were poping up such as the Hauppauge PVR recording at times and then not, or the best when it would record a show in 30 second increments, but that was a while ago and I solved that, think it was the stern threat I gave the PVR to shape up or meet the business end of a sledge hammer.

So after my rebuild, refresh, wiping and rebuilding I once again had a stable system. I know not all the issues were sage's fault. That was last week and the system ran great for a day or so, Saturday morning Sage had turned off, server was running but not sage, after a restart it was running, until it was time to record a 1/2 hour show, it did and then proceeded to record an additional 17.5 hours of the same channel, no the hd boxes weren't left on. Then the pvr was up to it's old tricks, uninstall reinstall again. Saturday night it all started to fall apart.

The docu I was watching froze, the hd200 seemed dead, the hd100 upstairs kept playing fine, restarted the 200, rebooted eveything, then the 100 died, server seemed fine, the network was ok, sage wasn't off, I restarted the server and after 15 minutes it happened again and that's when I calmly sat up from the couch grabbed the remote and twisted it apart.

I didn't get mad, I shrugged my shoulders, took a picture and posted it.
I restarted the server and it worked fine. Got my spare remote out sat down and continued to watch my docu.

The server has been running fine since then

Oh and I would never break any of my kids things cause I was mad at them... My father did that to me once and I remember the ape that he looked like while doing that. I don't want my kids looking at me the same way. Nor would I break something in front of them such as in this case.

Sounds to me that you may have scared the server straight by sacrificing the remote...

Maybe I should try that with the remote that came with the HD-PVR...
