Media library - Videos: an endless list...

Hi all,

I'm a new user of sageTV Beta - still waiting for my PVR-250 (a long way from the US to Israel)... so I started managing videos -
I have about 200 video files of movies, under folders/sub folders.

How (if it's possible...) can I see those sub folders under the "imported video files" menu and not see an endless list of movies?
Is it possible to sort the list/divide it?

Thanks!
Oren.

Not sure if it works in the imported video files menu or not, but when I hit ESC in my recorded programs it sorts them into folders. If I hit ESC again it makes the video through menu appear, then ESC a third time resets it back to the long list of shows.

Hope it helps...

Angry

Unfortunately there is no solution for this. I have raised the issue several times over the last 8 months....no luck . Then I contacted Frey directly via email and got a response basically saying that they will support folders, but not in this release

Pretty pathetic indeed considering its not a "new feature", but basic functionality which should be there.

Pathetic...

Well, I think I'll leave my living room HTPC with ShowShifter for now and keep looking...maybe beyond media ...

So we'll wait.

Thanks,
Oren.

Once Sage 2.0 is released I will make public my special version of Sage UI. With it will be a couple of different video libraries. Here is one that I think would work for you.

Let me know if anything is missing .

Drool... You know, you could beta test your UI with us, so that it will be ready when 2.0 comes out of RC status.

Now thats what I'm talking about. Looks good to me! My goal is to have a terraserver on my home network to store all my movies/music and recordings. Organization in the video library is a must!

This is EXACTLY what I was talking about !!! GREAT WORK!
I would love to Alpha/Beta test it...

Just another wish mlbdude - as long as you're changing the UI:
Support for right-to-left languages...
When I use fonts with Hebrew script I can see hebrew but it is written from left to right .

It's will be most important in the program's guide! In other modules like video/music/etc. I can mannage using english only.

Thanks,
Oren.

mlbdude:

Do you have the ability to edit the name of the show, sim to ID3 tags on MP3s?

For instance, I have a whole bunch of this show "Good Eats" recorded. I moved them to a second hard drive I added. Now under Library the only show up in "Imported Videos" and it only shows the filename + path as the title. Basically I can fig out what the show is, but its a hideous front end. It appears as if you can make folders and hopefully change the name to be what ever you want; e.g. "Good Eats - Rib's Episode" in lieu of "D:\Library\Goodeatsaribforallocc0999876467.mpg"

Once they are out of the Sage database and are treated as Library files you can change the name to whatever you want.

To organize those I would rename them to whatever I wanted in explorer and create a folder with the show title and put them all in there. You could even include a folder.jpg in the folder to have a nice image show up on the folder and for each individual show.

Once I get this out there it will be easier for people to see what it can and cannot do. I will also be happy to enhance it .

Is there anyway to hide the file extension in the listing? My wife could care less if it is a AVI or WMV or MPG or anthing. She just wants to see the name. The rest becomes confusion.???

I was pretty happy with Sage 1.4 and found it to be on the right track.
But having a 3 TB video/mp3 server the list soon became 'endless' and I stopped using Sage. My only wishes for 2.0 where folders/categories and Tivo like FF/RW.
I am very happy to see that with the special UI version from mldude the folders/categories are going to be available exactly the way I was wishing for - and with eruji's Tivo like FF/RW my other needs are satisfied.
Looking very much forward installing and using Sage again once 2 is out and mldude releases his version of the UI
Thanks guys!
