Trouble with HD HomeRun 2nd Tuner

Hey guys-

I've got an HD HomeRun and have never been able to get the second tuner to work in Sage. I'm currently on the 7.15 beta and have tested both tuners from the HomeRun Setup utility - they both seem to work fine. Within Sage, Tuner 0 is just fine. However, Tuner 1, which I setup identically, always shows as having zero signal strength for all channels.

Sage is running on WHS on a MedaSmart Server. I did the testing from another PC since I can't pull the video up directly on the WHS.

Any ideas? I'm running all latest drivers.

I had the same problem on my server running windows 7. I also run it headless so I didn't want to carry a monitor into the basement to test it out.

I got it fixed, but as usual I'm not exactly sure how... I think what I had done was somehow gotten the first tuner scanned into Sage correctly but the second one didn't work when I did the channel scan. Even when I went in and removed both sources in Sage setup and rescanned in the HDHomeRun application and then scanned in SageTV setup I got one tuner showing no signal.

I did a file search on my sageTv install directory and found the .scn and .frq files and deleted them. I also found a file called something like Hdhomrun cache. I deleted this also.

Then I did a new scan in the hdhomerun software for each tuner. Did a scan in video sources setup in SageTV and both tuners are now working fine.

Did you do a scan with both tuners? In your Sage directory, do you have both the scan (.scn) and frequencey (.frq) for each tuner?

I added a 2nd HDHomeRun devices and was also having problems. I needed to run a full scan one the new tuners before they worked correctly. (Even though they use the same channel lineup as the old tunnrs.)

Sage folder had SCN files for both tuners but only the working tuner had a FRQ file. I completely rescanned both tuners both from the HDHomeRun setup program and within Sage. When I restarted, the same problem remained, only the "zero" tuner got a signal.

Also, after rescanning, only the SCN files were recreated, no FRQ files.

Any other ideas?

The SCN file gets created by the HDHR software when you do a scan in the HDHomerun setup program.

The FRQ file gets created by Sage when you run a scan in the Sage tuner config.

Try running a scan on the second tuner from within Sage again. If it still doesn't work, try making a copy of the FRQ file and renaming it as the second tuner. Or, you could file a support request with Sage - perhaps there is some problem that is showing up in your log file and they might be able to help you out.

Do you get green bars in the HDHR Config (GUI) utility? If not, you may have 1 bad tuner. I had that happen with one of my brand new HDHRs and had Silicondust was great about quickly diagnosing it and doing an RMA.
