R5000 recording file type (container)

Greetings all R5000 users;

Running R5000 quite well on my VIP211, but noted that it is recording everything in MPG files. I guess I was expecting this to be .ts or .m2ts, given that the video type could be h.264 or MPEG2.

Any recommendations? Some media players are rejecting the R5000 sageTV recording file format.

I am trying out compressed recording (no null padding on transport stream).

You can have Sage record the files with .ts extensions (I forget how exactly), but it doesn't change the actually file at all, just gives it a different extension.

Since the R5000 is a network encoder, Sage has no control over the files beyond the filenames.

For the MPEG2 files, you can run them through VideoReDo's quick stream fix to clean them up. Not sure about the h.264 files though (my satellite provider only uses MPEG2).

I think there's an option in the R5000 software to write to .TS files.

options: preferences: record as .ts (mux direct to transport stream).

This works fine on my win7 client. The vista server can't play back any HD now, but there are some broken codecs on it now I think.

Yea vista is no fun, waiting for sagetv7 to wipe and reload the server.
