Screen Edges

Hi ,

I for the first time connected my Sage System up to a TV this weekend. I have the black border around my screen and the edges seem to be uneven. This does not happen if i connect a monitor to the system as well.

I have the following configuration

P4 1.7 ghz
768 Megs RAMBUS
Nvidia GF4 4200 ti
80 GIG system Drive
200 GIG video Drive (64k clusters)
Silverstone Case with RAIDMAX 450W PS
2 PVR-250 MCE
SOUNDBLASTER LIVE AUD.

If i connect a monitor to the system i can get rid of the black borders on the TV but i do not want to run a monitor on the system as well as the TV after initial setup. I have the latest (non beta) NVIDIA Drivers on my system and any help would be appreciated!

Regards,

Thomas Sexton

You will have to adjust the overscan on the vide card's S-Video output. It has been a while since I have used the S-Video output of a video card, but the overscan settings should be in the same general area where you enabled the S-Video output. Look for a setting where you can adjust center and size.

I use the output from the PVR-350. Since it is in a PC by itself (a mini-ITX form factor machine), I don't have to worry about it conflicting with my PVR-250s. I have a standard definition (NTSC) TV and I don't think too highly of the quality of software MPEG decoders on it. I do have the video output of the PC hooked up to the TV, but it is for emergencies so I'm not too worried about overscan.

There are several of us using Xcards around here... if you let us know what you are wondering about it, maybe one of us could answer. Note that SageTV does not output the UI through the Xcard currently, and it may never do so.

I have an XCard but the lack of OSD out on the XCard has me currently using a PVR350. Personally the XCard picture seemed slightly better than the 350, still have to do a direct comparison.
The only real workable way that I found to use the Xcard was with a home theater amp, XCard ran to one input, Ati Vivo 64 vid card to the other inputput, switch to the vid card for menu display and pc display and then to the Xcard input for watching recorded shows. Xcard will also decode DVD and Divx formats, so this is another bonus with it. It just plain sicks that the Xcard has no OSD out with Sage.
