Sage6.6 + MC upgrading to SageTV V7

Hi,

I have SageTV 6.6 with SageMC installed.

I want to bite the bullet and move to SageTV 7 today (installing sageMC later via the plugin manager).

Is it best to just install over SageTV6.6 with V7...

...or should I remove SageMC first?

and if so how to I remove SageMC cleanly?

Hope someone can help.

Michael

Many thanks for all the replies

I just went ahead and installed over the top of sageTV 6.6 + sageMC

It seemed to just work.

All in all SageTV 7.0.16 + sageMC + windows 7 seems to work fine. No ranting from the missus that I've changed the telly again and she doesn't know how to work it.

The default sageTV7 on MVPs is terrible- even with animations off you can see it drawing. HD200s are fine

SsageMC is consistently good everywhere.

Great to hear that! as I'm facing the same dilema...
Did you reInstalled SageMC using SageTV7 plugins after the V7 upgrade or did you just use the "old" SageMC stv after the v7 upgrade?

thanks,
Oren.

I use the plugin manager to install the V7 plugin.

It seems to update the same files - and keep the olds ones with a .<number> extension.

hey i was considering doing the same thing. i installed sagetv7 the other day in a separate directory and it gave me a BSOD along with it royally screwing my sagetv6.6 setup to the point i had to reinstall it. anyway, i guess my question is, how much setup did you have to do with a straight upgrade? where all your recorded shows still there? your tuner setups? or did you have to do it all again?

i like the new UI but im too lazy to redo all the setup stuff again since i have it almost just how i like it now after months of tweaking here and there. thanks in advance for your response.

Install over the existing v6 install and you keep everything and see all your recordings. Althought I would recommend a clean install because you can't use v6 plugins with v7. Just save your wiz.bin for all your recording info and favorites. Check the FAQ in the forum.
