Is SageMCTuner dead and everyone is using SageDCT ? I got my HDHR Prime, set up my cable card and got it running in Sage with SageDCT. However TWC (Time Warner Cable) flags almost all channels where I live as copy once so they will not play in Sage. Can I use SageMCTuner to get these to work, or just go back to HD-PVR?

Both SageDCT and SageMCTuner require the channels to be set as Copy Freely in order to view them in Sage.

Or switch to FIOS if that's available.

Sparhawk6 - thanks for the reply. Not the answer I was looking for, but saved me a bunch of wasted time trying to get something to work that will not work. I don't think calling or sending emails to TWC is going to make a difference. Maybe an additional HD-PVR or Colosus (and cable box <sigh>) is in my future since I doubt TWC will be making changes anytime soon.

I have Time Warner as well, dealing with the copy once flag on all channels. There really is no way of making this work with SageTV? I guess I should have done more research before buying my Prime, since it's useless right now.

I would be more than willing to dump SageTV and replace it with Windows Media Center, but the WMC extenders (xbox360) are just too loud/slow/expensive, so I guess I am out of options.

Ceton's Echo might provide a solution for both of your extender concerns when it comes out.

I think you are right, it really does sound like the only option in the post SageTV world.

Has anyone been able to get this to work where you know the channels are sent w/the CCI flag set to Copy-Once (e.g. Time Warner)?

I traded in my cable box for a CableCARD and got an HD Homerun Prime only to find out that I really can't make much use of it (I hate Windows Media Center after having SageTV up for a few years and a couple HD300s). I figure this is probably the last thing that might be possible before trading the CCard back for another STB and tossing the hdhr-cc on a shelf.

It's been a very educational two weeks with the key take-away being that I really hate Time Warner because at the end of the day I can get to the same place, but at a much greater expense using STBs, which make me think that TWC sets that CCI bit simply to force people to rent more of their boxes.

It does not work with copy once... your only option is to use Media Center or get a STB and a Hauppauge HD PVr2.

I would stick with the original HD-PVR for now (from the posts I've seen here, I don't think anyone has had good success with the newer HD-PVR2).

I'm giving up on the HDHomerun Prime and will swap the CableCard back for another STB (which is where I started from 2 weeks ago). I'm not sure what I'll end up doing with the HDHR-Prime since I also have a standard HDHR for OTA stuff.

Since TW still keeps the OTA stuff open for clear/QAM, maybe I'll just stick with it simply for redundant access to local channels even though they also still pump out the analog channels under 100. At least then Sage shouldn't have any problems finding a tuner for the local channels (2 hdhr3, 2 analog via a Hauppauge PCI card, 3 HDHR-Prime w/o a CC). I guess I'll just have to pick up a used Hauppauge HD-PVR on ebay so I'll have at least one tuner to get HD cable channels.

Do you have FIOS in your area? If so I would switch to FIOS from my understanding they only copy flag HBO and other premium channels. SyFy, USA, FX, etc... are copy freely normally.

No. Time Warner is the exclusive provider for its cable markets (unless you go with satellite), and evidently they set all programs other than local channels and maybe one or two others to copy once.
