SAGETV and CableCard

I am thinking about buying a new TV that has CableCard capabilities. Assuming the TV has outputs, can SAGETV work with a CableCard coming from a TV? If so, would the TV have to be on and would a IR blaster be required? Are their any PVR tuners that accept a CableCard? I understand generally SageTV will not work with HDTV signals from cable at this time, but I was just wondering about the digital channels.

The problem with Cable Card is that your cable company owns the card and rents it to you. They require their technicians to perform the installation and activation. I assume the Cable Card is then locked to some form of unique identifier in your TV to prevent you from moving it to unapproved devices.

That depends entirely on the provider. Some hand them out like candy and dont care. Some act like the Gestapo and borwbeat you to let a tech slide it into your TV for you after interogation.

CableCard labs may give their approval with closed source vista an with signed drivers, and vista not letting us install unsigned drivers. Basically when we are completely locked out of our own PC's, then and only then will CableCard be there for us htpc users
