Must I buy a new client license?

I am getting an iMac and I want to install the Sage client on this new machine. My Sage server is on a PC and I'm still on v6. Haven't had time to play with the v7 beta.

I have 2 unused PC client licenses. Does anyone know if I'm required to purchase a separate Mac client license while the PC licenses remain unused?

Thanks,

If you mean SageTV Client, then yes, you need the license specific to the OS you're installing on. For technical reasons, each platform has its own licensing system that doesn't understand licenses meant for other platforms. Your Windows licenses will not work on a Mac.

Placeshifter licenses, on the other hand, install on the server, so it doesn't matter what OS the client is running. Any Placeshifter client can use any Placeshifter or extender license.

So, just to make sure I understand, all I will need to purchase is a Mac client license in order to see my server which is PC based. Is that correct?

I'm not a Mac guy, but yes, that should be all you need.

You should also be able to run the Mac client in trial mode for 21 days without a license, if you want to try before you buy.
