TinyTwin dual USB tuner - Using both tuners at the one time

I have a DNTV TinyTwin USB Tuner that includes dual tuners on the one USB device.

I used to do all my recording via WebScheduler and everything worked well. I could be watching SageTV on one of the tuners, the other would be recording... or, both tuners would be recording simultaneously.

I now want to do everything in SageTV. I configured a Favorite to start at 8:30pm. I was watching another channel at the time and I found SageTV presented a popup saying the recording could not be started on the second tuner. However, I found that as soon as the program I was watching finished, the recording started on that other tuner (#2) and SageTV switched over.

I tried to change channels whilst SageTV was recording and all I got was No Signal message.

It's like both tuners cannot be doing thing simultaneously.

I have the latest drivers and as I said before, everything worked fine using WebScheduler for recordings.

Any offers of assistance please?

Did you actually setup both tuners within Sage? Sage will see each tuner independently even if they are on the same device.

Yes, both tuners were setup, and use the same XMLTV Lineup I configured for the channels.

Each tuner seems to work independently, just not simultaneously.

- Tuner #1 was watching a live broadcast, but tuner #2 couldn't start it's recording (SageTV popup was displayed advising of this)

- As soon as live show finished, Tuner #2 kicked in and started recording automatically and the channel changed to this recording

- If I tried to change channels whilst recording in progress Tuner #1 kicked but SageTV displayed a black screen with "No Signal" message. When I had a look at Info it said that Tuner #1 was showing live TV (but it wasn't - well, it had "No Signal").

What version of Sage are you using? I am having the exact same issue but only with SageTV 7 (still in beta of course), when I go back and reinstall v6 both tuners work again as normal?

This is the error I am getting each time I hit record and then try to view another channel: -4,0x8007001f

I get great playback though with these settings:
Video renderer=EVR
MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter=Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder

All my drivers are up to date and Win7 has latest updates. Any ideas?

Should I be submitting a bug report?

Cheers

Unless I missed it in the long list (which is possible), that tuner device is not listed as being supported by Sage.

Well it is just a normal BDA based device and that is in that list you refer to... and as I said it works perfectly in SageTV 6.

"Most other BDA based DVB-T/C/S cards should work with Version 6.2 or later but may not have been tested. If you have tested a specific card that is not listed, please report your findings to us at support@sagetv.com."

I too am using SageTV v7 (latest beta) but under Windows XP with VMR9, not in exclusive mode.

I don't get your error per se however it just won't operate the second tuner on the same device.

I infact do have a seperate Nebula tuner in my system as well and Sage TV can utilise one tuner from the TinyTwin and the tuner on my Nebula simultaneously, just not the two tuners on the TinyTwin together.

Unfortunately I never did try the two TinyTwin device tuners together whilst using SageTV v6 as I used SageTV just for watching live TV on one of those tuners and reserved the other tuner from the TinyTwin for recording via WebScheduler (live TV recording application). I had no problems with SageTV using one of the TinyTwin tuners and WebScheduler using the other tuner, just not SageTV being able to use the two tuners.

I will email support if no-one has any potential ideas why this may be happening.

I have formated my drive and created a dual boot system with two fresh (and replicated) installs of XP Pro. I've put SageTV 6 on the first one and works perfectly using the TinyTwin dual tuners. I've put SageTV 7 on the other and same issue of no access to the second tuner. I've filed a bug report here.

That's fantastic, thank you for submitting the bug report.
