Interesting cable box shut off issue

So I have recently been plagued with cable box shutoffs. Couldn't figure out why it was happening so much more often, and why it was frequently only one out of two identical boxes

I caught my cable box in the act of turning off earlier today.
It was tuned to a channel that sage thought i got, which i did not. The cable box was displaying a message "you don't receive this channel, etc".
It seems that when my cable boxes are tuned to a channel I don't receive, they'll power down after some amount of time.

One of my favorited shows recently started airing reruns on a channel i don't get, hence the sudden onset of this problem.

I removed the channel from my EPG and that should be that!

Thought someone else might benefit from this information.
