How do I add ripped DVDs including chapter marks to playlists?
I have many music DVDs that are ripped to folders. Each folder contains a ripped DVD with a VIDEO_TS subdirectory and many VOB files. Each ripped DVD has a couple dozen chapter marks on them. The chapter marks are at the beginning of songs or at the beginning of talking between the songs.
Is it possible to create video playlists to playback certain chapters on certain ripped DVDs? The video playlist would then playback only the DVDs and chapter marks that are part of the video playlist. Dave |

I don't think that's possible. The playlist feature doesn't support playing back just individual chapters, as only the whole mediafile object is put in the playlist. You'd probably have to split up the videos into individual items to do what you are looking for.

That's unfortunate. I used to store each DVD in a large Mpeg2 file. I deleted a few months ago. I re-ripped all the DVDs into the standard DVD format with VOB files and chapter marks.
My wife wants to watch the videos two ways, as a DVD with chapter marks to skip songs fast, and like a video jukebox that can randomly play songs from a playlist. I'll convert the DVDs back into large mpeg2 files, one for each DVD. Then I'll train my wife how to use VideoReDo to edit the songs into individual files, one for each song. It will take about twice as much storage, but then the videos can be played back both ways. Hopefully, the video and audio quality will be the same with the VOB files and mpeg2 files. Dave |

If all you're doing is cutting and splitting, then it will be identical.
