Exclamation Ripped DVDs

I use DVD Decrypter to RIP DVDs to my hard drive, then use Auto GK to compress them to DivX (about 700MB). Is there a way to include the DVD info (Box Art, release date, ect.) so it will be displayed in sage?

Hi LegolasX21E

I have been ripping my dvds and importing them into Sage for about a month now. currently 400+ movies and about 900 to go. I used to use AutoGK to compress them but have since moved to Nero Digital. I compress them to about 500MB for 1:45 minute movie and they look fantastic on my 57" Hitachi HDTV hooked up through S-video. When I used AutoGK the quality is not as good and the encode times are TWICE as long... About 50minutes for 1:45 movie running 2-pass, Compared to 2:30 for AutoGK.

As far as diplaying details:
You have to use a custom STV (I use Cayars STV found HERE . When using this STV you can create .my files to hold certain info for the movie.

Ex:
say you have the movie Troy.avi in C:\movies
You can go to netflix, blockbuster, imdb or many other websites and save the image of the dvd case as C:\movies\Troy.jpg.. This will you to display a picture when in the details screen of Troy.
Next create a file named Troy.my in C:\movies and input these three lines:
title=Troy
overview=Copy and paste info from whatever website you choose
released=2003

Refresh the import library and then you shouold see the picture and details for your movie.

Remember, the movie file name, jpg image and .my file have to have the same name: Troy.avi, Troy.jpg and Troy.my

PS: Sometimes Sage doesn't like some jpg images and gif's. If the info shows up but no image, just try to find another image and replace it.

I'd check out mlbdude's SageMC STV (I'd go the 16x9 version ). It's got support for loading (currently) metadata from a DVD Profiler XML Export. DVD Profiler is about the easiest way I've found, just type (or scan) in the UPC and it will automatically retrieve all the info and the coverart. It's free (or if you pay, you get better coverart).

And there will most likely be some enhancements coming to that STV, sometime soon hopefully .

Oh, here's a link:

is this the only STV that uses the XML info from DVD Profiler? I thought there were others as well. Or does this use more of the info provided (like rating, actors, etc as opposed to just cover art and description)?

mlbdude is (I think) the only one that has incorporated DVD Profiler metadata. His first STV (mlbdude2, OK his second) used it via .my files, and with MCE, he added the ability to pull directly from the DVD Profiler XML.
