Plugin:: Sage My Movies for Sagetv

Just wanted to post my $0.02 since I was having some difficulty understanding the install process.

My setup:
-2003 server running as file server and SageTV server
-HD200 client


Steps I took:
1. Install MyMovies Collection manager server/client onto SageTV server. It took about 30 minutes to install and looked like it was locked up the entire time. I also installed the MyMovies client onto my desktop PC to manage the MyMovies Server.
2. Import movie share already visable by SageTV using the same UNC path, making sure all movies are in their own folders.
3. Install MyMovies API plugin
4. Install MyMovies plugin
5. Reboot HD200 (did not do it automatically or give an option, MyMovies view will be all jumbled up until you do this)
6. Enjoy

Okay rats. If changing to alphabetically sorted is a pain, would changing to collection number instead of date added be less coding? that way if i sort and renumber it would be alphabetical.

Yup, this is why I would rather test first using the backdrop.jpg and then fill up my library and get my money's worth (well free money's worth)

So I've installed a cover style. It rebuilt my image cache after I chose it in the CM options. When I load up sagetv on my server, the images all show the new images with the new cover style. On my extended however, it only shows a black border around each of the posters. I did a reimport and rescaled the images but they still were not right. Is cover styles a client pc only feature? If not, what do I need to do to get them working?

although i've already received some contribution points, tonight i decided to request a trial and see how this looks full blown. I don't see MM creating backdrop.jpg files, yet SMM is indeed displaying them (and we love it so far btw). Are these images getting stored in MM's database or how does that work?

Last night, i accidently re-imported one of the drives into MM, and it duplicated all those titles . i guess i originally imported using the local server's drive letter, and this time i used the UNC path. my bad. But it seems SMM will play either one on the server-client, regardless. so i presume, SMM is getting the file location from MM, and instructing Sage to play it. As long as the SageClient can access that file location, it will work.. which is why best practice would be to use UNC paths, instead of mapping drive letters all over the place. amirite?

It should work on extenders can you point me to the coverstyle you used so I can test.

UNC paths is the way to go. But remember sagetv and SMM paths must match 100% case sensitive for it to work. If you get duplicates it is easiest to delete the collection and reimport everything.

Ya, i thought of that, but only 1 drive of 7 got duped, so i figure i'd manually plow through em. Keeps me honest for not doing that import again.

MM has a record of some oddball titles that i didn't think anyone else had (certainly not IMDB), and now they show up in Sage just like any other mainstream title!! and i can contribute my many other oddball titles too!!! well not that many

Plucky, I’m wondering if there is a way for SMM to separate Date Added criteria in the sort options? Right now that sort option seems to capture both newly added discs as well as any changes that may have been made to the metadata through CM. Movies that have been added a long time ago seem to creep up in this sort when I only want the newest/freshest movies.

Does this then indicate my extender is looking at 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\cache\SageMyMovies\Desktop' to get it's cache? Many of the jpg's in the Covers subdirectory there are rather large.

Maybe I'm missing a key concept here. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I have been trying to troubleshoot why my extender performance may be slow. Looking at some other posts, I see perhaps there is supposed to be a directory for cache that i am missing. specifically i have seen reference to

\program file\sagetv\sagetv\cache\sagemymovies\....

On my server (Win 7, where CM server/client is installed), I do not have this directory. Under \cache\ the only directories i have are \imagefactory and \url

Any idea what this means, how to resolve?

EDIT=for example, on the extender i am at the wall page. all the covers would load. Then i would hit page down to go to another bunch of titles, and briefly the name would show and then the dvd cover would come in. Then I page back up to where i was before, and the title of the movie shows briefly before the dvd covers seem to reload. Sp, it seems they reload each time i revisit a title - if i leave that title and come back it needs to reload. Seems like there is no cache going on for the extender?

That actually isn't the case it doesn't factor in date modified just date added. This is not the date of the file or folder but the date it was actually imported or added into mymovies cm.

You wont have those folders on any server for the server or the extender. Those are only made and stored if the mymovies install is not local.

What speed issues are you having speed related? Did you follow the wiki and turn poster fade in off?

Twice now the MyMovies menu item has disappeared off the main menu. First time I got it back by restarting the server and the HD200. It said it was disabled. This time restarting the server did not work. It says it is installed, nothing about being disabled.

How do I get it back and keep it back?

By the way, I had figured out the folder structure view option to separate the kids and grown up movies and it was working great with our own custom backdrop for each....

Plucky, just FYI since we were talking about changing from non service to service mode I thought I'd let you know that when I switched to the service mode, your plugin was completely unaffected from what I could tell. Even though what seems to be a bunch of random stuff wasn't carried over for many of my settings, your plugin works exactly like it did for me before and even retained all of my custom settings so that was pretty cool

I finally got around to spending an hour getting SMM to work last night (had switched my sage install from my WHS to a Win7 box and didn't have the MM CM configured right).

This morning, I got the kids up and showed them and if it makes you feel good, there is a 9, 6, 4, and 2 year old (well, my daughter, the 2 year old just stared at the screen) who went WOAH! They (and their father) were REALLY impressed!

Good work on this. I LOVE it. When Phoenix/BMT get working right I will marry it and bed it.

The wallpaper view is still 'blank'. The other views are mostly 'blank'. I sent in two log files several days ago. Did you receive the log files?

Hi Plucky, yes I have turned off poster fade in. For each page, it looks like the images fully reload when I scroll. So for the coverflow, if i move right, the cover images will take time to appear (load) and then i move back left over the ones that i had come from those again have to re-load. same happens on the Wall and other views.

Sage on the server does not do this, only on my extenders. I know it will not be as fast on the extender, but not sure if they are supposed to reload each time they show on the screen. I saw discussion about cache and thought that may have been the issue.

Your dont have poster fade in turned off if they are doing that promise. You may have adjusted the poster fade but you didn't turn the fade in option off. They only fade in if that option is on.

Are you running in non service mode? If so make sure you are running the latest api and stvi version per the wiki or first post

That is fading in. Off = no green dot. If you are positive you have them off an then are still fading in send me you properties files from your mymoviesshare\sagetv\properties send me all the properties file in there. You can get the mymovies share location from the wiki.
