The following plug-ins are installed:
SageMyMovies 1.09 beta
SageMyMovies API 1.101 beta
Microsoft SQL JDBC version 2.0

Microsoft SQL 2005 (or newer) is not installed on the SageTV computer. I do not have SageTV client computers, only extenders. The "SQL Server Browser" service is not installed on the SageTV computer. I disabled my firewall which did not change the error. I receive the error both on my SageTV server and on a HD-200 extender.

Does SageMyMovies require something beyond the SageMyMovies plug-in, such as SQL server 2005? Where might I be going wrong?

Dave
Did you install mymovies collection management tool ? It will install the SQL server automatically.

I have a question about this. When I installed the collection manager, I used the standalone, since I only have the one pc.

When I started my 500 dvd collection, I did an import of my dvd folders, I was unable to specify UNC paths, but sage uses UNC paths.

Is there a quick way to change the paths in collection management or do I have to edit every one individually?

I had no problem importing files/folders using UNC paths. It was a standard windows file open dialog, so you can browse to anywhere with it (or just type in the UNC Path).

Delete your db in the collection manager and reimport the folder/folders using unc paths. It will just reread the xml's you already had.

You can't specifically type it in so what you need to do is when the popup comes up to select the location, go to your NETWORK location instead of the actual drive letters. When you make the selection via the Network location, it automatically fills in the UNC paths. I made the same mistake the first time too. Luckily the fix is easy and you just start a new database (which deletes your current one) and then import via the Network selection. This is WAY quicker than manually editing 500 entries

Anyone having an issue getting the intro functionality to work? I have a single intro, a MKV file in its own directory on the same machine where my movies are. When I press play on a movie in SMM, it just goes straight to play the movie. I can play the trailer by itself without an issue.

Anyone have intros working?

Thank you both, it worked like a charm. And yes, it was much easier than manually editing 500 Entries, I was on around #100, when I thought there must be a better way.

Play bypasses intros you need to hit select to play trailers/intros. Also make sure your count isn't set higher than the number of folders in there and that only that mkv (videos) are in there.

No, I didn't have the mymovies collection management tool installed. I have it installed now with the 'standalone' mode, since I do not have a client computer, however, I do have HD-200s. Now I have the SQL Server Browser service and other SQL services. I tried starting MyMovies, Wall view on the HD-200, and still got the same SQL connection error as I had before. The firewall is disabled.

I then tried starting MyMovies, Wall view on the SageTV computer. This time I got a message that the database is currently being created. After a couple seconds the message was replaced by the SQL connection error again.

Is there anything else I might have missed?

Plucky -
Thanks for responding so quickly.. As always :-)

I only have the one .mkv file, no other files show up. I have the count set to 1.
Play vs. Select seems to make no difference for me....

hmm to be honest I didn't test intros but the code is the same as trailers so it should work.

Does it just play the movie or do nothing? If it is nothing please send me a you mymovies logs (see wiki on where they are) to sagemymovies@gmail.com

First, a mea culpa... I had for some reason assumed that SMM got trailer and intro data from MyMovies and didn't have its own configuration for that data.. Oops :-)

Upon finding the trailer/intro section in SMM, I realized my mistake.. However, I did notice the following:

(1) When I first setup an intro in SMM, it still would not play. I tried multiple times.
(2) I then enabled trailers and had them point at the same directory as my intro. At this point, I would start a movie and it would indicate that it was playing 1/3 (I assume the trailer, then intro, then movie). However, after the 1st item was played, it would just hang.
(3) So, I disabled trailers, and when I start up it indicates it is playing 1/2 (intro, then movie) and that seems to work perfectly.
(4) If I re-enable trailers, I will get the hang after it plays the trailer and before it moves into the intro... I wonder if that may be because it is the same file.. I will have to try it with different files and see if that changes the outcome.

No it doesn't sound like it...Try shutting down your sagetv and deleting the entire sagetv folder under your mymoviesfileshare. (not the installed sagetv folder the one under you share)

then open up sagetv and let it rebuild everything see if that works if not send me the logs please.

Okay sounds like there is something there that isn't letting you enable just intros. I will look at it.

and yes it can't point to the same folder for intros and trailers that would be the other error.

cheers

Hi Plucky.. love the plugin. I've been using SageMC with V7 because I couldn't live with the default videos UI. Now I hope to soon switch the whole family to V7 thanks to mymovies.

A couple of questions for now:

1) Is it possible to have the default action when you click on a movie for it to open the info screen, rather than play the movie, and then have a Play option in the info screen?

2) Is it possible to replicate the "Genre" view in SageMC? I know you can use the GenreView, but what I'd really like is the WallView of the movies once I select a genre, rather than the horizontal sliding view. Ideally, I'd like the first view to be a "wall view" of the various genres so I can see them all on one screen.. Then once one is selected it would open up like a folder and display the movies in that genre.

Thanks,
Marc

Edit: Removed comment that info screen doesn't work... I see in the first post it says "Please don't post the info view doesn't work". Sorry!

1) When I click info on a movie, I get the info screen but none of the menu items, summary/cast/etc, seem to work. Even Exit doesn't work.. I have to up-arrow to exit that screen. Are these supposed to work yet? Extender Performance

Great work Plucky. I have a question I'm hoping someone can help with. It involves performance on my extender (HD200). I've scoured the forum postings and wiki with some help, but still left with more questions. I have MyMovies Collection Mgmt installed as "server and client" on my Win7 64-bit PC. Sage7. All installed on local drives. The actual media content is on a local NAS. Everything in the setup including the extender is network connected via wired ethernet.

The function of Sage My Movies is perfect. But I'm wanting to know if the performance I see on the extender is "expected". I've turned off the poster fade per recommendation. On the extender, any of the views that require displaying multiple covers at once (cover flow, wall view, etc) take quite a while to load all the images before quick navigation is possible. Is this just the nature of the extender beast? Or should I expect better? Again, everything is interconnected via ethernet.

I began looking at two primary directories:

C:\ProgramData\My Movies\FileStorage\SageTV\Extender
and
C:\Program files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\cache\SageMyMovies\Desktop\Covers

I notice that after scaling the fanart from the extender, the Extender directory above gets updated with jpg's with relatively small filesizes (~19kb). While the 'Desktop\Covers' directory seems to have several jpg's in the 250kb range. In my properties file, it appears to default my cache directory to the SageTV '\Desktop\Covers' directory. Is my suspicion correct that I need to manually update my properties file to instead point my cache directory to the My Movies 'C:\ProgramData\My Movies\FileStorage\SageTV\Extender' directory that presumably got built when I had the fanart scaled from the extender? Thus leaving the extender to only pull up those small jpg's for speedier navigation?

Also, are the jpg's that MyMovies Collection Mgmt puts alongside the actual media files (DVD's, mkv's, etc) used by Sage My Movies in the GUI in any way (either on SageTV server direct, or the extender)? Or does the extender only pull from the jpg's in either of the above mentioned locations?

Any input is greatly appreciated. I'm just trying to understand where the performance bottleneck on the extender might be. Or whether this is just the way it is on extenders. Performance on my PC is much better, although you can still see it load the images one by one (albeit much more quickly than the extender).

If you are seeing it load images on by one then poster fade is not off.... they will all be loaded when you go if poster fade is off

Secondly it can't be pulling from the desktop location for an extender...I think you might be looking at the wrong properties file.

Really? I was kinda of surprised by this since boxes like the HP MediaSmart are headless, it's really the only way to do most things.

Plucky, each time I add a movie into Collection Manager, it is only "kinda" being seen by Sage My Movies. What happens is that if I add a movie to Collection Manager I can back out of My Movies then go back into My Movies (not restarting Sage... just going to a different area in Sage) and I'll see a blank space where the movie SHOULD be. This is not like it doesn't have coverart because this blank space/area isn't even selectable. Even restarting Sage doesn't fix this. The only way to get the new movie(s) to be fully seen (cover art where I can click on it) is to rebuild the database. After I rebuild the database, the movie is seen.

Not sure if this could have something to do with me not runnign in service mode or not but this is repeatable after not just a Sage restart but rebooting the computer too.

Thanks!
