Which UI should I use with SageTV7? MC, default, wait for Ortus or Phoenix?

I have been using Sage for about two years and we have been using SageMC as the UI the whole time. The family is very used to the SageMC UI as we switched from Win XP MCE prior to that.

I am just in the process of switching from Sage6 to Sage7 and I am currently running the two systems in parallel, although I don't have my main tuners moved over to the V7 box yet.

I was initially using the new default UI but my wife wasn't very keen on it and also was worried that the nanny, babysitter, etc wouldn't be able to figure out how to get to the content with the new UI. So for now I am running SageMC on the V7 clients - actually five extenders.

I believe that there are also supposed to be (at least?) two jazzy new UIs coming out in the near future - Ortus and Phoenix.

Does it make sense to bite the bullet and get everyone to move to the new default UI?

Or should I wait until Ortus and/or Phoenix are released and see whether it makes more sense to move to those UIs. I certainly don't want to move from SageMC to Sage7 default to another UI.

Difficult to know the right answer to this poll unless you've actually used Ortus or Phoenix... But I'd select a choice that isn't on the poll:
"Use default SageTV 7 with one of the nice themes for now. And possibly (probably) switch to either Ortus or Phoenix when they arrive."

I've used SageMC from the first day I started using SageTV. But after a week or so of using SageTV 7 I'm quite happy with the way it looks and works. It's far from perfect, but I like it quite a lot.

I'm using the SageTV6 UI in SageTV7 with no plans of switching over to the new default UI. I'll evaluate other options in the future as they're completed, but nothing has really caught my eye so far.

I'd stick with the default v7 UI, if for nothing else, then it's what some of the best current plugins are based on. The navigation is different than SageMC, but it doesn't take long to get used to.

I use the default, but with the Serenity theme, and my girl has gotten used too it and she now likes it quite a bit. . . I am currently awaiting dynamic menu options and my disk bar, but other than that, I'm quite happy. . .

I am using the Default with a custom Theme of nice Art work. (WAF)

The family and babysitter figured it out without a tutorial. I miss custom menus and TV Explorer but no one else seems to care. I will add the eye candy as it becomes available but the base UI is now worthy of use.

Embrace the future.

You'll be waiting a while for ortus or phoenix...I wouldn't even consider them. When they come out, then you could consider it then. For now, I personally am sticking with v7 default (even though i used sagemc on v6)

For now I'm sticking with V7 mainly because the plugin manager is such a nice addition and I love the ease it brings.

I do miss quite a few things from earlier UIs, dynamic menus in particular.

Whoops. Voted wrong. Sorry about that Meant to say to go with V7 now. I've been V7 about since it was released in beta as my only DVR (some people running V6 and V7 until official release).

Does MC even work in 7? I don't think it is 100% perfect. We were using MC with 6.x and when we switched to the default in 7 my wife was at first upset but she has adapted well. Just really need the alphabet jump in the videos section like MC had.
