New User having setup problems

Hi!

I just started using SageTV and it keeps telling me that my capture card is a Haupauge WinTV PVR PCI II capture card when it is actually a PVR-350. It also will not recognize the IR remote even though the remote works on the Haupauge WinTV2000 program. Can anyone help?

The message about the tuner name is correct. Don't worry about it. Are you able to view live TV with it?

Did you install IR support for the PVR-250 when you did the install? It's easy to miss that one. Did you restart the IR software after the SageTV install? Try rebooting - see if that helps.

I guess I installed the IR support since it does work with Haupauge's WINTV2000 program. Am I supposed to install it somewhere as well?

Yes, I can view live TV with no problem. Everything seems to work except for the remote control and SageTV.

When you installed SageTV there was a popup that had a couple of checkboxes on it. The second one talked about IR support for the PVR-250/350. You need to have that selected during the SageTV install for IR to work. It's not related to the Hauppauge software.

If you're unsure, run the installer again and do a repair. That should fix it. You'll need to restart the IR software after the SageTV install is complete. You can find the restart option in the Hauppauge programs.

You don't have to reinstall SageTV: see this FAQ for links to posts saying how to enable SageTV support in the Hauppauge remote's ini file.
