Really like the look of this plugin

Just a quick note to say how much I like the UI for this plugin. The font, the rounded corners - but not overdone. Just feels right. Thanks for taking the time to write this!

I've tried to recreate your conditions and everything appears to be ok, can you give me a little more info as to what you did?

Still loving this plugin! And trailers are updating regularly, hurray.

Just a quick question about the "download all trailers" function -- does that mean it will download all the new trailers not yet downloaded OR does it re-download everything, including trailers previously downloaded? I'm hoping for the latter but the documentation was entirely clear (to me at least).

Thanks again!

Yes, IIRC it will ignore previously downloaded trailers and not re-download them.

Cheers

Having finally upgraded to v7, I'm really impressed with the polish on this plugin. It looks absolutely fantastic. Thanks so much for all the work you guys are putting into Ortus.

Are there plans to include online ratings (IMDB, critics, etc)? That's the only thing I see missing from this.

I'm thinking most the movies in the apple top 100 (which is where this pulls from) aren't even released yet, and may not even have ratings for many of them.

Definitely a very valid point for the majority of the trailers, but, for the ones which have been released, it would be really nice to have those ratings. I actually use those ratings to determine if there's a movie I had NOT been planning to see, but apparently should.

I've been playing around with this for a little bit now and I'm seeing two issues:

1. I can only play one trailer before I have to restart the client's SageTV. Trying to play a second one simply results in it sitting there as though it's going to play (but paused), but never doing so.
2. When I hit stop twice to stop a trailer from playing (from the long list, not the top 10), it goes all the way back to SageTV's main menu. Is this by design?

Any idea what might be happening?

I doubt its the trailer plugin thats causing this as it just passes the location of the media file over to the default Sage mediaplayer.......my guess would be a codec problem but one thing you could do to test a bit further would be to download two complete trailers, copy them over to your video directory and then play them back to see if it does the samething.

Again I think thats probably a default Sage thing as I dont have any control over the mediaplayer.

Let me know if you think it still is the plugin and I'll look into it abit more.

Cheers

Ben

No, I think you're absolutely correct here. I did a little more testing and stopping a recording is doing the same thing. It's very annoying. I don't know why they'd design it this way. I'll check in with support and see what they say.

with the multifunction stop plugin pressing stop twice brings you back to where you were (instead of the main menu)... ya the default behavior is annoying for sure

Hmm... I have the multistop plugin installed, as well. I had been thinking it may have been the cause, but based on what you're saying, it shouldn't be. I'll still try disabling and/or uninstalling the multistop to see if there's any impact.

I'm definitely going to file a bug report on the default behavior, though.

i could also be misremembering what the default behavior is if you play a video all the way through to the end (not hitting stop) though i don't believe the multifunction stop plugin is invoked.... i could be wrong though

The default behavior when stopping playback w/o any plugins is to return to where you started playback; this is not a bug.

I agree that would not be a bug. The issue I have is that's not happening. It drops me back to the main menu instead. As I said, I need to disable some plugins to see if they're affecting the behavior.

Ya, the trailer plugin uses the same method as the default UI to fall back to the previous menu after playback is stopped but let me know if its doing something different for you.

Cheers

Ben

I believe I've identified the cause of both issues. The multistop does seem to be the cause of me dropping all the way back to the main menu when stopping a video. I posted the issue over in that thread.

It also appears that DirectShow is causing the issue with the trailer playback. When I just use SageTV's player, playback works fine every time for the trailers. If I have no issues playing back any of my other videos, this won't be an issue.

When I reported problems with playing trailers and some other video content with SageTV player, I was told that it's not really being supported any more. I had to jump a number of hoops to get everything to play well on my Vista HTPC and a few less for the SageTV PC client on my W7 desktop... for what it's worth.

(The initial problem I reported with the SageTV player was that the colors were noticeably washed out.)

Hmmm... so is this a possible bug I need to report then? Or do I need different codecs?

What "Media Player" are people using for non-MPEG files?

Mods: Feel free to split this into it's own thread in the beta forum.
