Where to change location of SageTVService?
I just did a fresh install of SageTV using a different address than was being used. I went through the full setup wisard.
Now however the service wont start because it is looking for the previous directory which I renamed when I did the fresh install. Where can I change the directory path for the SageTVService? Thanks GM |

It's buried in the Windows registry. But rather than grovel through the registry trying to patch things up by hand, here's what I'd recommend:
1. Back up everything, both new and old installations. 2. Uninstall SageTV from its current location. 3. Delete the new installation directory. 4. Rename the old installation directory back to what it was before. 5. Reinstall over top of your old directory. If you really want a clean install, here's what you should have done: 1. Back up your old installation directory. 2. Uninstall SageTV. 3. Delete the old installation directory. 4. Do a clean install into a new or empty directory. Just renaming an installation directory without uninstalling first is bound to cause trouble, because the registry is going to be full of pointers into the old directory. Also do not copy properties files from one installation to another, because they too contain pointers into the old installation directory. If you want a clean install, let it make a new properties file.

Thanks GKusnick,
Followed your suggestions for a clean install. Now however do I check that it is registered. When I did the original install I was able to input my V7 upgrade licecense. If I deleted the old install how does it know I had 6.6 installed and accept the V7 upgrade license. GM |

I don't think Sage removes the licensing info from the registry when you uninstall it. I've never had to re-enter licensing info unless I nuked the OS Even if the info got removed or corrupted you could just enter your V6 license key, then it would prompt you for your V7 upgrade key.

It will ask for both keys, first the V6 key and then the V7 upgrade key. Make sure you run it the first time with the service disabled in order to enter the license keys. Then quit out to Windows and enable the service after the keys have been entered and accepted.
