channel tuning
Where in the SageTV api does the actual channel tuning occur?
Is capture device online? yes Is input on capture device in-use? no get control of capture device and input tune to channel ? begin recording

It really depends on what you are trying to do. The Sage core does all of the heavy lifting and is designed to take care of most "details". There is an API AutoTuneChannelTest() but this is used during the channel scan process.
There is a WatchLive() API that let's you begin playback from a specific capture device, maybe that's what you are looking for?
