Sage RC2 not recording favorites

For some reason Sage RC1 and RC2 do not record a certain favorite that I have set. This is a slightly different problem than some of the previous posts since it does not show up in the recording schedule. The favorite is "Masterpiece Theater" and I have it at the top of the list (favorite #1), there are no recording conflicts and no other favorites that even occur at that time and yet the schedule does not show that it will be recorded. I have to manually record the show, but I would like the favorite manager to pick it up automatically. I have never had any other problems with any of my other favorites, it seems to be isolated to Masterpiece Theater.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chad

That actually sounds a lot like my problem. My favorites did not show up on the recording schedule either, allow they were outlined in the TV Guide. Did you specify a recording channel when you created your favorite? I think that's what caused my problem.

Also make sure the upcoming airings were not in Italics. That means they are Watched and will never record again with a Favorite.

Nope, not in italics. And yes, showind additional airings shows the upcomming airings. As a work around I look at the additional airings and then manually set them to record.

Have you tried de;eting the favorite and re-adding it? Be careful, if you have intelligent recording turned on it will delete any recordings for tha deleted favorite.

Yep, I deleted and re-added the favorite. To no avail.

I'm seeing a bug in RC3 where recordings are not always showing up in 'SageTV Recordings' even a few hours later although they were recorded and exist on disk.

The recording should have been in a folder but was clearly not there. Nor was it in the top level of the list. The show was actually recorded and was on the HD. After a few times of searching the list it eventually appeared in the correct folder.

This is still showing up in RC3. It seems to be very specific to Masterpiece Theater. Can some one else add MT to their favs and see what happens?

I just added it to my fav listings, what I did notice is that this show is a best of other shows (UK shows that they air in this slot), maybe this is the problem, maybe for some reason there is a second tag on the show that causes the problem. Will be able to post tonight if it recorded though.
BTW, this is my first big test of the new PVR 350 setup, 4 encoders will all be recording with the addition of this fav
Hopefully it doesn't all fall over.

Just look at your recording schedule. You don't have to wait to see if it actually records. If it shows up in upcoming recordings, then your setup is working. Also I have it set to record all channels, first runs or reruns so I doubt the fact that it is best of will matter.

Well then I can say it is working cause I did check once I put it into the favs and it is listed for 9pm tonight. Will let it run and see if it records. Could be a wiz.bin problem and as far as I know the only way to fix that is to delete and start fresh, losing all program info on recordings plus your favs. I did this on Friday due to problems with MP3 playback paths being wrong which caused Sage to lockup, once I cleared the wiz.bin file and resetup my favs all worked fine, MP3s play with no problems.
Is a pity there is no export function that we could export and then re-import certain data like the show infos for files, currentl losing that info sucks. The only way I can watch these shows is from the video library.

I know I'm arriving late for this discussion, but...

Actually, it will delete files when IR is turned off (not on) if you have the following property set to true:

seeker/clear_partials_and_unwanted_when_ir_off=true

Essentially, in this mode: when IR is off, all non-favs and non-manual recordings are considered unwanted and are deleted immediately. (Or at least when the live show is over.) That's my understanding, anyway.... Hmmm... I re-read the release notes & see the comment about files being deleted when IR is off, but I don't see that property mentioned. In my old property files, it showed up in beta 15, 2 versions after that "delete unwanted" change was made.

I have MT in my fav list & the future airings are in my recording schedule.

Just to update, I recorded Masterpiece Theater last night and it recorded fine, no problem whatsoever.I think in some way this show has become marked as watched OR don't like in the wiz.bin file and can't be changed. I think you are looking at biting the bullet and deleting the wiz.bin file unless someone knows how to manually edit it.

Ok thanks for looking into it. I will probably stick to just manually recording it since I spent a fair amount of time building the ordering of my favorites list.

Thanks again,
Chad

Well I had over 20 favorites on my list and I deleted the wiz.bin last Friday and it took me about 5 mins to re-set it up, once I knew what was in it, it was easy. Solved a lot of problems for me.
