Wireless keyboard and mouse question
I'm working on building my first htpc using Sage. My equipment and computer is going to be in a closet, a few rooms away. It's not too far, and maybe three walls. I tried a spare RF keyboard, and it was close but not quite.
I'm wanting to keep a keyboard and mouse in the TV room. What should I use? I have an extender for the remote, but wasn't sure if I would have to do something like that for the keyboard. My thoughts were: 1) Is bluetooth too short? 2) Could I just run a long USB cord and place the RF pickup into the TV room, or can USB's not be run 20 feet or so? (Running the wire under the floor isn't a problem) Or, I'm open to any other suggestions. Thanks! |

Buy an HD200 when they are back in stock and connect it to the network and your TV. That's the beauty of SageTV. Why mess with all the other stuff? Your HD200 and the remote that comes with it and you're all set.

But I'm wanting to access the PC (ie. internet, games, etc.) from the TV room on that TV. That will be the only monitor (just running sage on that TV)

I have two cables run from my Sage server to my living room. An HDMI cable for video, and an active USB extension cable (well, three of them) for everything else*. I picked up the USB extensions from monoprice for pretty cheap.
$8.11 16FT 5M USB 2.0/1.0 Active Extension / Repeater Cable A Male to A Female -Gray <-- the ones I have $10.20 33FT 10M USB 2.0/1.0 Active EXTENSION / Repeater CABLE A Male to A Female <-- wasn't available when i was shopping... looks better... * (In this case, everything else includes: Audio, USB-UIRT, Wireless Keyboard/Mouse, HD-DVD drive, BluRay Drive, multi-card reader, USB-to-Serial adapter for controlling the TV, and occasionally, game-pads).
