Using Sage with H-250, sivideo in, and surround sound?
I've purchased Sage, and am overall very impressed (RC2 is great!) I'm using it with a Hauppage 250, and it works fine with the cable input.
I'd like to have my satellite box's s-video connected to the input of the Hauppage, but not use the audio-in (stereo pair) on that card. I would like to source the audio from the satellite receiver's SPDIF or optical output into the HTPC, and have Sage perform PVR functions using these two inputs - in addition to the cable. Effectively, Sage would do PVR with both the cable input, and the auxiliary s-video/SPDIF input. While I'm aware contolling the external satellite box requires USB-UIRT, girder, etc - this doesn't concern me. I'm wondering in anyone can indicate if this configuration would work. I'm considering an M-audio 2496 or 7.1 Revolution for this function, due to the fact it doesn't resample the audio and passes it cleanly. In any case, can Sage do this? Thanks very much! |

The sound has to be recorded by the PVR-250, so that it can be embedded in the MPEG2 data stream.

What about using software MPEG encoding, and/or creating a graph to select the video source different from the audio source?
